HOW DID I NOT DRAW ELK WITH 10 FLIPPIN POINTS!!!!???

I have an excel sheet to very loosely estimate my odds for applications based on all the info from: https://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/permits/results/points/2017.php clicking into the detail PDFs.

you can't really know for sure point creep or group applications and I didn't spend much time developing a super smart algorithm, but it gives me a general idea of tag odds and what to apply for based on opportunity.

10 points is going to run around 45% odds to draw.  Next year you should jump over 50% so hopefully you win the coin flip.

Points - Odds
1 - 0.6%
2 - 2.37%
3 - 5.23%
4 - 9.16%
5 - 13.94%
6 - 19.44%
7 - 25.49%
8 - 31.91%
9 - 38.52%
10 - 45.16%
11 - 51.66%
12 - 57.90%
13 - 63.77%
14 - 69.20%
15 - 74.13%
16 - 78.53%
17 - 82.40%
18 - 85.74%
19 - 88.58%
20 - 90.97%

no deer for me. i went 7 years drawing it and have only been 1/3 the last few. weird.

Probably due to point creep, or more people starting to apply or a drop in tags, but here were my estimated odds going into this draw:

Points - Odds
1 - 25%
2 - 70%
3 - 93%
4 - 99%
5 - 99.94%
6 - 100%

Keep an eye on leftover tags.

Not being drawn for multi elk means I'll be drawn for moose! That's how that works, :dunno: right?

Same here. Hope I fair better with my out of state applications.  But probably won't.  Lol

I'm pretty sure. I didn't draw either so that works out to a.goat tag for me.

Same. I'll be looking forward to a sheep tag then...

Not selected for elk. I don't put in for the deer because I figure if I want one I can just wait and go pick one up if needed lol. Guess it will be a wait until they release the rest of the multi elk to otc sales and hope I can be 1 of the lucky few.

6pts and no multi elk
Funny
I remember when an elk tag was automatically
Multi season
Hunting and fishing license was like 40-50 bucks
And game was abundant and access was available and easy
Then the fish and game improved things

I recall they moved to user groups to eliminate “hunter overcrowding”
