What BS that was the best spot!Yeah. Apparently there was some significant structural damage to the pier, so they closed it indefinitely. They say they will investigate how much it will be to fix it, but there are no immediate plans to do so.It sucks. The guy who ran the little tackle shop down there had to close his doors.
An older gentleman named Chang came up to me once " you suck! You need good jig" and he gave me a few home grown jigs and let me fish next to him. Buckets were filled lol. PLEASE REOPEN!

Buckets were filled lol. PLEASE REOPEN! There is (were ) a group of old asian dudes that were down there literally every single time I ever went. I called them The Ninjas. You could stand right next to them, use the exact same gear and jigs, watch their every movement and try to copy it exactly, and they would still out-squid me 10-1 every single time. I never figured out what they were doing differently.
I know the limit is 10 pounds but can you get ten pounds tonight before midnight and ten pounds tomorrow say at 1 am from the same place??? Squidding has been stupid good.

Squidding has been stupid good.Im no warden, but my take is, if you limited out before midnight, took them to your car and started fishing at 12:01, you would be good. Kicker is posession limit. Not sure what that is in fresh form. If you went home, dropped off the squid and came back after midnight, i would think you are good. Maybe something I am missing in the regs? Interesting question nevertheless.
I like fried squid, but it’s one animal I’ve never caught for myself. Not sure about that whole ink thing, that just doesn’t sound good.
I should take my daughter out, she loves them. But no clue how to, and would I have to go to seattle or can I go to des moines? Just a shell fish license, pole, jig and bucket? And you have to go at night I assume, the later the better?

And you have to go at night I assume, the later the better? It has been a good long while since I've been squidding - not since the early '90s or so, but it used to be that when they were in, they were in.I would take the kids down to the Point Defiance Boat House in the middle of the afternoon and we would jig off of the dock, and did well. While night jigging might be more productive in terms of the amount of time it would take to limit - there is a trade off particularly when involving kids as schedules tend to be disrupted.I'm curious as to whether or not anyone has been jigging daylight hours, and if so - would they be so kind as to chime in.I will try and get out right after Christmas, and get just a little more use out of this license before it gets replaced
