Inside 600 there's zero change I'm picking eldx over an accubond.  That said there's zero change im not using a 215 berger in a rum  :twocents:

You’d use the 215 Berger inside 600 with a rum?
Absolutely! They are the very best all range all purpose 30 cal bullet in existence! :twocents:

 :lol4: :lol4: :lol4: :lol4: :lol4:

Has Berger changed their recipe since 2014ish? Hate to start beating this ol' horse again but I had a couple bad experiences with them prior to then, one muley at 300 and one elk at 75, both had major penciling on all non-bone shots. I haven't paid much attention to them since. In all fairness I was shooting them in 7mm, not 30 cal. although my hunting partner lost a great 7x7 rosie in 2015 with 4 good shots out of a 30-378 at under 100 and never found the bull. Everything i've shot with them beyond 500 has died real good.

Makes no sense that they wouldn’t open at close range and do at long range :dunno:

Lol 4 good shots inside 100 with a backwards Barnes would lay an elk down

I can’t really speak to any of them except the 215 hybrid targets. I do find it suspect how 4 good shots wouldn’t bring down an elk regardless of bullet choice tho.

With a 30-378 I would think the static shock alone would bring it down even with fmj

215s are killer and are an overachiever on velocity too

With a 7mm running 180 bergers at 3100...
In the last two yrs I've shot one deer @279, one at 340. And 4 bulls at 790, 320, 350, and 445.... All one shot , All the elk died on the spot. The deer moved about 50 yards.  I think the thickness of the elk and shot placement has been critical. The deer was my standard behind the shoulder about 4 inches, dead center. So id run them, but expect a little more tracking for the deer.

I thought the exact same thing. They were all orange box VLD's. I don't remember if he was running the 190's or the 210's when he shot that big bull. Would have thought the first 2 were clean misses by the lack of reaction but they weren't. Tiny specs of blood and the gun was dialed. Broadside prone shots laying on a skid road, bull was also in the road.  I shot a small 2pt bull at 75 yds and poked a tiny pencil hole thru the lungs with virtually no damage. I have pics of the exit somewhere, i'll see if i can dig em up. Got lucky on the followup and broke the spine at base of the neck on a dead run.  Also poked 2 pencil holes thru the mule deer at 300, 3rd one that hit rib did good and blew off his g4 with the 4th shot as he ran downhill.

You guys can doubt all you want. I hope you never have a similar experience. If I were reading it online from somebody I didn't know I'd probably assume the same thing. But if you were there you'd agree those bullets hit where they were supposed to and flat out didn't do their job.

I had a 215 not open on a 70 yard shot from a 300 wsm. But it went through the lungs and the speed alone destroyed that animal in 60 yards

Yeaahhh, I think I’ll just stick to 200gr AB for elk. I’ll probably play around with some Berger’s or eldx and use them on an Idaho muley if I can get them to shoot good.

I am not doubting. Its just never happened to me, and I pray it doesn't!
