Stud buck.

I wonder how many others will find it and leave it lay.

Awesome find and thanks for posting the photo.  That is a great deer. Hopefully he bred lots of does before passing.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

The answer is probably, and should be ZERO.

Just fill out a salvage tag and take it home

I moved out here from eastern Iowa. Brought a couple 180+” mounts with me for the wall.

Shedding antlers of white tails would always depend on the severity of the winter. If it was mild, they wouldn’t shed until mid Feb sometimes March.

Bad and early winter they drop December/January.

One year, we had snow in the beginning of November and temps dropped into the single digits for shotgun season. I was with a group of 12 guys standing at the truck getting ready to head to the next area to hunt. (We hunted 50k acres of private Lands, The Amana Colonies) A very nice buck came out of the timber at 170 yards which was perfect for me and my S&W 460 XVR. All the other guys were using 12ga.

I put the crosshairs right behind the shoulder and as soon as I shot, both of his antlers fell off due to the bullet impact. So I got to tag it with a dep tag (doe) and shoot another monster three days later!
