I purchased the Cabelas breathable waders in Oct.  Just took them back and got a new pair after the started leaking up the tape seams.  I haven't had to bad of luck returning them.  I save the box and receipt and seem to return them yearly as that's about all I can get out of them before they are toast.
I will pick up a pair of Sims waders in the spring to see how they do as well.  That way I am not using my hunt waders while fishing.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Won’t buy Cabelas waders ever again. Bought a pair last year, first trip out leaked all over. Figured they were severely defective. I returned them for a full refund, within 30 days.
Bought a different higher priced pair of Cabelas brand waders. Leaked. Tho not as bad. Never returned them.

My buddy used Gator waders and absolutely loves em. That will be my next pair.

Question for the Froggtog guys..  How do they breath?  I was considering them as well but they seemed like they would be a sweat box, but I've never tried them.

For me, with insulation layer in, they didn't breath quite as well as my new LL Bean but still way better than neoprene. Without the layer, they breathed great

I know people aren’t to hip on the cabelas waders on here but i bought the pair they sell for $220. I hike pretty hard into some areas and i just finished up my 2nd season with them. They’re intact and i have no complaints. The reason i bought them instead of other companies was because i felt like I’d be able to walk farther more comfortably. If i was rolling off the road into the water I’d buy other pairs.

I have been through a lot of waders over the years. If you put enough miles in them, you will get holes and have to replace. With that said, purely from comfort and function, I recommend breathables at the very least. I ran neoprene for many many years and went to breathable a few years ago and will never go back.
My hunting partner, who wears breathables, has been giving me grief over my neoprenes for years.  I have 3.5 and 5 mm Cabelas neoprenes.  Over the off-season, I bought a pair of Herters breathables, which Cabelas was closing out, for $89.  I wore them all this past season, from the warm early days to the very last day of the season.  I don't think I will ever go back.   Breathables with proper layering underneath are the way to go!

To the OP, keep an eye open for post- season sales from Rogers, Wing Supply, Macks and Cabelas.

The Roger's and Frogg Toggs look to be the exact same waders made in the same factory with different labels sewn on them.  Banded waders look pretty similar but not exactly the same as well.  Compare Rogers 3 in 1 Toughman insulated breathable waders to Frogg Togg Grand Refuge 2.0 Xtreme Waders.

Rogers are on sale less than $200 right now.  Only a couple size options left though but a great deal.

BlackBerry bushes will kill about any set of waders if you go walking through them.  I used to wear neoprene until I switched to breathable about 10 years ago.  I can tell you, I will NEVER wear another pair of neoprenes ever again.  I get a few seasons of hard hunting from my Cabelas breathables,  I try not to go serious brush busting in them though.  I usually wear the boots out from a lot of walking.

i picked up a pair of the frog toggs with 2 liners on ebay for $200 about a month back, haven't worn them in the field yet but seem like nice waders. By the time waders go on sale at Roger's, they are always out of my size.

in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

I have the simms freestone waders. They have 2 seasons of guiding in Kodiak under their belt, and lots of time spent fishing. In the summer I wore these waders nearly every day for often up to 8 hrs a day. I've bushwacked pretty extensively through alders and salmon berry bushes and have only ever got one hole, which was sustained by ripping them on a sharp edge on an airplane.

I have destroyed cheaper waders to the point they can no longer be patched (seams straight seperating) in the course of 3 weeks in this environment. I am in no way affiliated with simms but I think for 200 dollars you just cant beat them.

What model do you use?  What boots do you match with them?

Sound like great waders, wish they offered them with attached boots.  I can't get excited about putting muddy boots on and off every day during waterfowl season.

I have the ones without boots. In my experience boots wading boots seem to get utterly wrecked pretty quickly, especially wading in quick rivers and in the muddy duck hunting spots. I have these ones, the very basic ones
