New muzzleloader ?

I hated my accurra and gave it away. Very easy to clean and very accurate. The only problem was the damn thing didn’t go off and cost me 2 bulls in 2 years.  I have a friend that has had the same problem with his. You literally couldn’t give me one.

a coworker has the same issue.  I'm always skeptical as poor maintenance is a common problem I see with most muzzy issues so I snagged it for some inspection.  Sure enough that dang thing would not go boom about 30% of the time.

Shooting 110 grains of blackhorn 209. Barnes TM-EZ 290 grains. Yes they are very hard to load. Very accurate though 2" groups at 100 yds. with open sights.

Ha, not sure but have only heard good things. Just installed peep sights today and cleaned out factory sludge. Gonna try to get out tomorrow and cap off some 209 powder and Tradition SST Smackdown chunks of lead and see how she does. Will see how I feel. Have had some weird health issues sidelining me for a while

Yep...local companies can stock/sell the pellets with no big deal, but, feign away from the synthetic powder for some reason. BH 209 makes big bucks selling the small containers.  It’s best to “go in” with a buddy and buy the larger container.

I’ve been using 100 gr triple 7 with a 300 gr powerbelt platinum and they’re very accurate and easy to load
And mine has never once had a hang up or miss fire I think maintenance is the key as it is with any muzzle loader

yep proper maintenance is crutial. Its funny.. They made inlines to make them fool proof and yet today, we still have folks that can not figure it out. I even shoot bh209 with the factory plug with zero issues.

I can assure you both that it wasn’t a maintenance issue with me. Gun is cleaned every time and I even unload and reload every day. With my buddies, he had 2 years in a row that it would go off the first time then take 2 or 3 caps for a follow up.

My very 1st gun ever was a 54 caliber Hawkins at the age of 8. I've been shooting muzzleloaders for 28 years now. I have had my big horn since 2001. I've shot literally thousands of rounds through it with not a single misfire. I'm pretty certain I know the difference between poor maintenance and a gun that is malfunctioning.

JakeLand what bullet are you shooting in your CVA? I am using the Barnes TEZ and they are very hard to get down the barrel.

the ignition issues with the accura's is no secret.  CVA is aware of it and have made design changes but still a lot of rifles out there with issues.
