Cowlitz Tuna

I figured they would spawn further out in the main channel, and drift on downriver. Right on the launch must be preferred for these lazy things. Not the only creatures stinking up our access.

Someone went Tuna fishing, cleaned their fish and needed somewhere to dump the carcasses. The boat launch was the easy choice.

I've heard the Toledo Tuna are a breed of their own.

Hech, there are thousands of salmon carcasses at white bluffs that the guides toss in every year. other than them stinking up the place when the water is down, don't see any harm. There will be some happy crawdads and i would think the smolts would even pick off the pieces floating down the river.

Yeah, it's a great smell. As that smell disappeared over the years, seems so did the fish.

Yes, the bio is helpful for the river. Point was, throw the things out into river and let em wash down. Piled on the ramp is just lazy and disrespectful to everyone. Would you want a neighbor piling his deer carcasses on your fence line? Prolly not. Do us all a favor and help maintain our access sites.

Agree with the part about tossing them out farther. Wish the guides would do the same. Whats worse is all the bowcarp hunters tossing them in the lakes. Nothing like dead floaters in 80 degree water on a hot summer day.

You’re right, they should toss them further out. The Cowlitz is notorious for carcasses on the ramp.

I tend to not be concerned about this. Toss them farther, toss them on the bank, whatever. The river is supposed to have dead fish in it and on the bank. The fact that it doesn't is a bigger problem.
