Most unit's hold a few sleeper bulls. What weapon makes a difference on when you draw.  For every one time you get a tag for modern you can get 3 for archery. (Rough early Saturday am math)

I'm not saying a unit but generally, like your muley tag, draw odds are often telling of quality of animals. But if your like me you avoid the most popular hunts and take pride in finding quality animals in less popular area's. :twocents:

Nice buck BTW

That’s exactly how I want it. If I wanted a easier draw with smaller bulls I think I would have already been drawn. I’m not sure what tag I have the points for but I think it’s the bull one that I have the points for. It’s the one that has the Dayton hunt. Rifle.

Dayton is quality, there is the regular rifle and the 1010 only.  6 tags given last year, the odds with 17 points are significantly less than 5%.  To have a 10% chance, a guy needs over 34 points :'(

The 1010 only tag has better odds but only 2 tags last year.

I haven't checked tag numbers for this year.

Waiting for the regs to come out to see. Might try for on of the early hunts. I’ve spent tons of time in the clockum and know where those guys stay. After the eat hunt they go into the reserve and won’t come out. Bugled some big boys there during the rut. Gonna just have to wait and see when the regs come out

17 points put you in a position that you could draw this year and may not draw in 20 more years. The odds for any of the decent tags really suck all the way around no matter how many points a guy has.

The recommendation from the Biologist for Dayton rifle is 3 tags this year.  I had one of the 6 last year and it was tough!  1010 is on majority of private land.  You better know someone if you draw 1010.

I’d stick with the clockum since you know it, then as a second choice little natches rifle rut tag.  But chasing the big bull tags is a long endeavor.
“In common with”..... not so much!!
