Grouse!!!
« on: April 18, 2009, 02:39:13 PM »
How many people actually noticed that the wdfw increased the bag limit on grouse from 3 to 4 birds?
It's not the size of the trophy that make's it a trophy.

You may just be one person in this world. But you may be the world to just one person.

It is real.

I overheard a F&W head tell a comission member that it would not hurt the population.

Cant wait till I can shoot some.  One almost gave me a heart attack today.  I was in some really heavy brush. I couldnt see more than 20 yards throught the branches.  A male started doing that wing thumping thing they do.  Scared the crap out of me.  Sounded like something was running at me.   :yike:  I did discover that I can draw that 6.5" barrel pretty fast before I figured out what it was.

You pulled a pistol over a grouse? :yike: Relax, you have a better chance of being in a plane crash than getting mauled by a black bear with cubs. :chuckle:

Laugh it up.   :chuckle:  Im sure you never got jumped by a ferocious man eating grouse before either.  Little *censored*s alway wait till you almost step on them.  Turn yourself inside out when they take off.  Im getting kind of use to them jumping up out of nowhere but not use to that wing thumping, at least not so close.

That "wing thumping" thing is called drumming. In case you were wondering...

Just think Kain, this fall we will all be jelouse of your fast draw. I always look in the direction I hear the sound to see what made the noise, 50% of the time I just watch them fly away without getting a shot off. :bash:

I noticed that bag limit thing too when I printed off the reg.  Kind of wierd that they did it this year though, after the horrible bird year we had in '08.  Crappy spring affected everything from grouse to quail to pheasants to huns here in the blues.
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

I rarely get a shot in the stuff I hunt.  Its thick, especially in the fall.  Might get one of the Taurus pistol that shoots 410 shells, that might be fast enough.

Thanks bobcat, I knew it was called something was just drawing a blank.  Im not normally out in the woods this time of year and dont  hear them do it.

We used to have pheasants in our field. Tall brush looking for the baseball. Those things would not flush till you were almost stepping on them, I did step on a few.

I am glad they bumped the limit. Not a whole lot of people who go small game hunting anymore. It was a waste of a day to go after only three.
Never, ever let Creed hold you baby, it will ruin it and you will have to get another.
