Ridiculous amount?
« on: June 19, 2021, 03:58:52 PM »
I drew a multi-season deer tag this year. I went to buy one today and I was quoted at $187 +. I told them a multi-season tag is suppose to be $139. The lady said I also had to pay for a "deer license." I told her I'm not paying $187 to shoot a deer. My question is- WAS I SUPPOSE TO GET CHARGED THE ADDITIONAL $42.50 FOR A DEER LICENSE? It just seemed like the extra money wasn't suppose to be added on.

WDFW doesn't excel in publishing easy to understand hunting and fishing regulations. Under item #4 on page 12 of the hunting misguided rule pamphlet, it is easy to miss the "In addition the cost of your original deer or elk license, you must purchase the multi-season tag." If by chance you had purchased a general season tag and were drawn for the multi-season tag, the general tag would have to be turned in before purchasing the multi-season tag. An eighth grade student could probably do a better and clearer presentation of hunting and fishing regs in my estimation.

The awnser is yes. If you hadn't already bought your deer tag then that's the total. If you already purchased your deer tag prior to the draw then 139 would have been the total plus dealer fees .

I try to get the multi season tag as much as possible, it’s a price you pay for opportunity here

To hunt deer you need a deer license which is $45. The regular tags are free. The multiseason tags are $139.

:yeah:I was thinking the same thing.
maybe it’s not worth it to some people , but for some with kids and other commitments it is totally worth having the flexibility.

Thanks, that's what I figured. I just had no idea when I put in for the drawing. I won't be purchasing the multi-season tag, plenty of vacation time to get it done.
