Out of state trophy Mule deer guides
« on: December 08, 2021, 07:05:28 PM »
Looking for personal recommendations for an out of state trophy mule deer hunt. Never gonna draw a good Washington mule deer tag so starting to look elsewhere. Interested in Utah, New Mexico etc. Would love some contact information to go with.

Thanks.

Check out some of the cwmu's in Utah. Don't have one I'd recommend, but I know some put out some big mulies every year. Little research will probably show which ones do.

This is actually at the top of my list. But the guy I hunt with refuses to vaccinate, so Canada is out.

I have used Cabela's twice and will probably stick with them.  They are great to talk to.  Tell them about yourself and what you're looking for and they will find it.  They have more than what's in the brochures and they go on the hunt before they'll vouch for the outfitter.  You'll get a very realistic idea of what to expect.  It really is like knowing someone who tried it before you.  They don't add a fee to what the outfitter already charges from what I've seen.

I'll take that under advisement for sure. I've used "booking agents" in the past and was shall we say neutral in using them. But I'll give Cabelas a shot and make contact to see if they offer what we are looking for. I really want to try an Alberta or Saskatchewan hunt but the guy I hunt with can't get a straight answer about crossing the dam border. Even from Canadian gate guards. So I refuse to drop a bunch of cash on something where he could be turned away at the border.

Have to be fully vaccinated 14 days prior to entry into Canada, and still jump through numerous hoops.  Personally I would go it alone and show him the pictures when I got back, but that's just me.

The thought has crossed my mind. But he is my number one hunting partner and I just can't stand the thought of taking a trip.like that and not having him along. We've hunted 30 plus years together. He's getting up there in age and this is really his trip. We did a couple of wilderness horseback hunts in Colorado but the last o e the altitude got him.
