Getting close to 1000 signatures in a day.  That's got to send a message

Really?

WA is averaging around 170,000 hunting licenses sold the past few years. So not even 1% of hunters signed this petition. And on the fishing side WA sells around 650,000-700,000 licenses per year.

I understand and appreciate everyone's enthusiasm in signing the petition, but it's not going to actually do anything.

Yes, really.

I seriously doubt all 170,000 hunters have seen it yet, or that more than 20% of them ever will.  So 1000 signatures on the first full day is significant.

I also seriously doubt Lorna Smith will be inspired to resign no matter how many signatures this gathers.  But Kim Thorburn will know her editorial didn't fall on deaf ears.

Of course, to your point, this is all just angry keyboard pounding until someone actually testifies at a meeting.  That's where the real impact can be made.  But if this petition represents a nod to Kim Thorburn's attempt to get hunters to speak up for themselves, and a small percentage who participate in this and see any reaction at all from the WDFW or council members are inspired to actually get up and DO something about it - will, this is then an unqualified success in my opinion.

Wow big Tex coming in hot with fine words of wisdom🙄. So do you think just sitting down and being quite is a better alternative? This state needs change big time

And yes I do understand that this petition probably wont do much but change has to start somewhere

Bigtex,  you have always been a good contributor to this forum and I do believe you work for the wdfw in some capacity, I can't remember what though if it's a warden or something else.  So I suspect you know alot of hunter and fisherman so why don't you help spread the word to people.  I know there are alot of hunters and fishermen that don't have social media or check on stuff like this.  So word of mouth is the only way.  My only social media is this forum so if I wasn't a member here I would of never heard about this.

So in your expertise what would then??? We have to do something. Or should we all just poach that way we don’t care what rules they make up or change?? Or sit on the side lines till we can’t hunt at all? Don’t like either one so I’m going to bitch and Moan every time they do us wrong weather it falls on deaf ears or not. Kind of like voting for the president when our votes don’t matter Because the electoral college pics. But we all still vote so we have the right to bitch about whoever gets elected because we didn’t vote for them. But I suppose you didn’t vote for the presidency either because like you said it doesn’t make a difference, right?
