Was able to watch the big one pretty close last night. He’s with a buck I have 4 years of history with. That buck is at least 7 yrs old and you can tell is much older in the body and 40-50 lbs heavier. lm now on the fence on letting him walk if I see him this year. I’m almost positive he’s 4 and it explains why I have never seen this buck until this year. My guess is last year he was one of the handful of 3 yr olds that were just decent young bucks and this year made a big leap. Can’t kill 200” if you shoot 170’s .  :chuckle: Be tough to let him walk, but think he gets bigger next year.

Thought I made my last trip to Idaho to scout deer 3 weeks ago, but finding that non typ buck had me wanting to go back. Well I found him again 2 days in a row. Rubbed velvet off Friday am. He’s got a lot going on. I was able to watch him a lot. Best I could see was he’s a 7x8 including brows, left side has a tripod back fork, next tine is forked . Right side has a normal fork, an inline off the beam that matches the g3, plus a long hook extra that comes up next to fork and where that hook bends has another point going back . His frame is not big , I dunno if he’s old or not. Dunno if he gets bigger. I’m undecided.

While scouting for deer in Idaho . I glassed up one of the biggest bears I may of ever seen or very close. I’ve seen a lot of bears hundreds maybe 1,000. This thing was enormous, it made a big muley buck look little.

I’d probably still be there if I had shot it. 8.5 miles one way and 2,300’ in elevation.  :chuckle:

seen a bear that size on the high hunt one year. My buddy said he wanted to shoot it. I told him I was here for deer and if he shot that bear he was on his own. :chuckle: Needless to say he didn’t shoot the bear. They get that big for a reason :chuckle:
Happiness is being in the woods!!!
