Special Permit Deadline Extended
« on: May 06, 2024, 02:27:46 PM »
Guess all the people complaining about paper regs got their way. They will probably be the same ones complaining about why we don’t have results the first week of June.  :twocents:

I don't have a problem with this. It they could get the regs out earlier, there wouldn't be such a crunch, especially for us old guys who read slowly!

Do they have paper regs when they put in for other states I doubt it. And yes these same people will  be complaining when its taking to long for the results I totally agree!

At least it's still two days earlier than it was last year.

Doesnt matter how things play out.  Someone, somewhere will always find something to complain about.
Right wing shooter, I aim for the left!!!

Nowhere in your incoherent rambling did you come close to what can be considered a rational thought. Everyone is now dumber having heard it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.

I think most of us know what hunts we’re putting in for, OIL are so few and it lists them right on the site when applying. I think I did all mine in about 10 minutes. It’s not that hard. :dunno: sounds like a money grab.

The odds suck so bad anyway you're better off just randomly selecting options... doing math and looking at permits/ points to draw is useless.

Now we gotta wait till the end of June ...if where lucky for a return on our investment...

It's possible that even with the application deadline being a week later, the drawing could still happen at the same time as it would have without the one week extension. People just need to wait and see, and then whine about it when the time comes. They could easily get it done 3 weeks from the deadline, which would put drawing results out on June 12.

Wait
So it was ok to whine about no paper regs thus creating an extension, but we can't whine about the extension possibly creating draw delays...

Go buy a computer and read the regs online it's the world we live in. If you don't have a computer go to friends place or library that has one! Deadlines are deadlines!

I agree there was no need to change the deadline, and I'm just hoping it doesn't mean results will be a week later.

Personally I know the permits I put in for way before I ever see the regs. I don’t know many people who don’t day dream about these permits for months before they even get the chance to apply. People know what they want…

The people complaining most likely are not people who hunt out of state.

They most likely are the old timers who are waiting for the regs so they can cut out the application and mail in their choices.

The state could have avoided all of this if they would have told those complaining via the telegraph that they are required to go online to submit their application.

These people probably tell everyone how impressed they are after reading the stock charts in the Sunday paper that they “can’t believe how many apples a company must have sold to be worth as much as Apple.”

If they are going to print paper regs they should be out atleast two weeks before the deadline.  If not , what's the point? And yes , I put in for other states.

They should have the common sense not to do rule changes before printing and have a deadline for rule changes.
Ohh ya ,they do,they just can't keep them .

Just so desperate to screw cougar season, that they screw everything else up.

Honestly if they lose some permit money ,serves them right.

actually I do complain because I do hunt out of state. it is a lot easier to see if I'm going to waste my time in Washington if they actually had something before we're halfway to summer. Have you ever noticed that states like Montana and Idaho already have paper copies out right after the first of the year so you can put in for their hunts.

Regardless whether they go paper Regs or online they need to come out earlier. I’m sure everyone wants a set of paper Regs in the glove box when you don’t have service at camp or packed in somewhere and want to look something up. It shouldn’t be hard to have the Regs out earlier and to have a paper option with as much money as they’re making off us.

Evidence show that those that believe receive.  Every draw whether here or out of State is the classic "Somewhere over the rainbow "    Yes it would be nice to have the regs but I just print them up. More gripping just leads to a worst day and disappointment.

 Exactly!

My guess is this has more to do with sales revenue being lower than expected, and zero to do with WDFW listening to hunters! :twocents:

Heck I just deposited my refund from Montana. They closed the submission for the draw (4/1), conducted the draw (4/15) and wrote my refund check (4/22) in just 3 weeks. All done without any paper regs.

Not sure why it’s driving me a little crazy that there are a bunch of people complaining online about the paper regs not being available but the online regs have been out for, I think, a couple weeks.

I’ve had little to no use for paper regs for years. I always have a copy or 3 on hand but I’ve definitely not used them for special permit applications at all in the last 10 years at least.

Worst comes to worst you could always print them….

I’ve had little to no use for paper regs for years. I always have a copy or 3 on hand but I’ve definitely not used them for special permit applications at all in the last 10 years at least.

Worst comes to worst you could always print them….

I was recently wondering why they still print paper regs.

The cost savings would have to be a pretty large number.  (although the ads probably cover a lot of the cost)

We should ask old Jay if he knows the carbon footprint those paper regs have.... :o

Not sure why it’s driving me a little crazy that there are a bunch of people complaining online about the paper regs not being available but the online regs have been out for, I think, a couple weeks.

I agree, using the online regs are no problem at all and it will be the way we look at them in future.
However, I still like to have the paper copies to read in spots my phone doesn't work or I have no computer.
I've always done a bit of scribbling for reference from year to year. It's just sad that WDFW can't get it together!
I still read books and not on a Kindle.

The lady at the customer service desk at Bass Pro told me yesterday that they weren’t getting this years paper regs because they’re the same as last year

The lady at Bass pro obviously knows nothing about hunting and is just a drone at a sub par outdoor store!

Calling bass pro sub par is giving them too much credit  :chuckle:

Dad (71) is still calling around to all the stores asking when they are getting the Regs in.  I talk to him frequently and he knows digital versions exist (and that I've already got everything done with them), but he's always done it one way for however many decades and won't change that now.

I sent him a link about the deadline extension, and got back "Wow they finally did something smart and let people see the regs in writing before they have to apply".

Doesn't make much difference to me, but people are creatures of habit.

My dad is the same way, so I just printed out all the special permit pages for deer and elk.  If printed front and back, it's about 10 pages and has all the info he needs to make his picks.  If he has any questions, I just have him call me if he needs any other info.

Nice! They delayed special permit deadline, now we wait even longer for the results that already take way too long. WDFW needs to do a better job all around the board. They’re failing this state.

As of noon in the Wenatchee Valley (5/10), no printed regs have been delivered to the usual license dealers. I called 3 locations, and they haven't seen any yet.

I can and probably will utilize the online regs, but I prefer to review with a set of paper regs, then I save the regs for several years as reference material. I don't just apply for the same hunts yearly as some do, plus this year I'm changing disciplines so there's an entirely new amount of research to be done between the available hunts vs timing. Especially to coordinate potential WA hunts with out-of-state trips.

WDFW continues to be a Clown Show, starting at the top... (Jaybo and the "Commie-mission"...er, call it the bottom of the gutpile).
