big forks?

Hey how bout a thread on big forked horns? I killed a big forky with eye guards in the wenas a couple years ago if I can figure out how all post a pic JB

Okay I'll go first, how about the body on this forkie? Forgot to resize it the first time, this should be better.

2002...my first mule deer...killed at 40 yards, and yes i did put the 3rd point on him before i killed him.


he's not a huge forky obviously...there's a lot of these where i hunt unfortunately.

i think big forked mulies are my favorite of all bucks. oh yeah throw in a little eye guide just so i can shoot him lol

Where I hunt to Jackelope. The unfortunate part is there are a lot of them that because of their genetics will never grow another point, leaving them free to roam and breed, spreading their genes to offspring. I think F&W should try to come up with some special hunt for juveniles or handicapped or permit or something to help cull the increasing numbers.

I'm not quite sure if I should call this a big forked horn or not he does have a thrid point on both side but they aren't very big the one on the deers left fork might be 1 inch(out right) 'll go measure. anyways if he counts as a 2 point its 21 inches wide. My first deer back in 2001 I beleive.

Idabooner and I were talking about this when we were up looking for bucks for Dan.  LOTS of big twos out there.

its an inch but he's better classified as a two point. I saw another one even bigger than this one one year but he had no third point. I got within 20 yards of him tryingt o find a third point and foound nothing but a straight up forked horn. This one I shot though I didnt have to look for a third point otherwise I prolly would have never got him. Youth season helped me out here.

I found a set of forkie sheds that would be at least 20" possibly 24" wide.....and heavy as all get out.

Here are 3 big forky's that I've taken over the years they are all Blacktail.  All were big bodied mature bucks, each one of them supprized me when I walked up on them.

1st is a 2 x 2, 20" wide

2nd is a 2 x 3, 16" wide

3rd is a 2 x 4, 17" wide, this years late archery buck.

Makes me wonder whats next a 2 x 5?

Nice two points Coonhound! Those look like they could be from the same gene pool as mine! Ha Ha! I know that many on here will raise their eyebrows on the reasons for mounting this one....but, This was a huge, mature blacktail that was probably not going to be anything more than a forky. The hunt was one of my most memorable and favorites of all time. He was killed on the last day, last hour of the hunt in 94. I am very proud of that particular buck and what he represents. He's 17-1/2" wide and has one small eye gaurd.

Very nice mount, I'm like you, it's all about the "quality" of the hunt not just the "quality" of the animal.  I think it's great to preserve the memories of a great hunt.  Don't get me wrong, my goal is to take a great animal but that isn't always going to happen, doesn't make the hunt any less enjoyable.

Beautiful mount Cowboy, who did it? Not many would mount a 2 point but if it reminds you of good times then I say do it. I have several 3 points mounted and each are very special to me. Especially with a mount like that, absolutely beautiful job!!!
