Who wants to go kill a bear in August?
« on: April 20, 2010, 02:54:06 PM »
I've been hunting a GREAT area in the high country of a wilderness area on the border of Oly National Park for deer 2 of the past three years. It's been great deer hunting the only problem is there are soooo many damn black bears, I need to thin them out!!! 2 years ago in one day I spotted 8 blackies in the drainage that I hunt, they were running the deer all over the place or at least the deer were really nervous b/c of all the bear. I've always hunted it the second week of Sept. right before the High Buck Hunt with archery tackle but I'm sure the bears will be there last weekend of August or first weekend of Sept.

The trail is about 5 miles long, the recent washout in the road adds another 3-1/2 miles. Theres portions of the trail that are STEEP so you gotta be in good shape.

I dont have too much time but I am going to drive in on Thursday after work, hike in Friday am and hunt friday aftrernoon, saturday and early sunday am. It's about a 6 hour hike.

I'm not really in to killing bears cuz I dont like to eat em but I would love to bring someone up there who is into killing and eating them.

If you're serious and in good shape please pm me.

Thanks,

Aaron

It sure wont be if the bears kill all the damn fawns. I found two bear killed (could have been cougar I guess?)fawns in five days the last time I hunted it.

Machias,  You're willing to spend somewhere shy of $400 in fuel alone just to go hunt Blackbears in the Olympics? Toss in another couple hundred for other expenses... Although that offer of a near sure thing sure sounds nice, that's one expensive Bear rug.
