I have shot 100 gr 4 blade muzzy's, 100 gr 3 blade muzzy's, 100 gr interlocks, 100 gr montecs, and now 85 gr montecs all with blazer vanes on shafts from Axis, A/C superslims, and now FMJ's.. I had great flight with every broadhead / arrow combination.. So I don't think that there is any real truth to the better flight thing with 4" vanes and muzzy broadheads.. I will take a usually a dozen and a half of my arrows and 12 broadheads and start with one broadhead and screw it in to an arrow and spin it to see if it's straight.. If not, I will take the same broadhead and try the next arrow and tighten it down and spin it and see if it's perfectly straight.. No wobbling.. I will continue the process until every broadhead and arrow is straight with no wobbling.. You can make any arrow / broadhead combination fly.. You just have to make sure the arrows are straight, fletched correctly, and most importantly that your bow is tuned! In my arrow tests I found that I had no real problem no matter what arrow / fletching combination I was using, as I spent numerous hours making sure my bow was tuned correctly before hand.. Does anyone else feel the same way?
I've been reading and it seems that 4" regular vanes are supposed to offer better flight for a 100gn Muzzy fixed broadhead than a 2" blazer style vane. Any real world truth to this?
