I do not believe in the technology. Air does not predominately move thru the fabric of a jacket when worn, but rather like a bellows. Move your body and fresh air rushes in around the neck and waist, move again and "skanky" air flows out. Unless you seal all the openings to your body and stop the air flow, how can any "scent control" work, when you are moving?

Maybe you should try Fa'breeze? (on your skank...)

I saw an article a while back where scent lock was getting sued for false advertising. I wouldn't drop a dime on the stuff, I think its a scam.
I guess I don't have anything good to say  :)

I know you guys are talking about scent lok clothing but I wanted to put in my two cents on scent control. Two years ago I did nothing and while on stand actually had a mule deer doe tracking my steps to me like a blood hound, eventually fleeing. Last year I took more precaution like washing clothes, spraying down clothes & shoes ETC and had two does walk the same path and pass with no alarm and I took the 4x3 that followed with my bow at 20 yards. I actually hiked in shorts to my stand then removed my clothes & shoes from a closed bag, got dressed  and hiked the last fifty yards to my stand. Needless to say I will follow the same steps from now on. I also won't purchase any scent lok clothing or waste money on other products. I also agree that stalking with the wind in your face, that less precautions are needed. I also had numerous elk within fifty yards and not one scented me. No shot available though. my  :twocents:.

Regardless of Scent Lok's effectiveness, I refuse to wear their product because they put such a large LOGO on everything. Not one single manufacturer of anything has ever compensated me for being their walking talking billboard. Free advertisement is for the birds, especially if you only the product because you like the feel or fit. I personally don't believe their is a product that will keep me or any part of me totally dry or odor free. I use products based on pattern or comfort and sometimes on a reliable recommendation.

Well Coast...I've had deer step on me....I've placed my hand on a couple to scare the hell out of them...I've had Moose and elk so close I wish THEY were wearing scentlock..... None of it had to do anything with scentlock clothing or any sprays.  I'm not bad talking the gear, but I'll re state my opinion.....If you want it because its a nice piece of clothing buy it...don't waste you money just for the Scentlock.  Right nowanything with that logo has an automatic price increase on it.  But soon it will be just like gortex or thinsulate or realtree...it will be standard.

Underarmour is another big one....it may have usefulness though.  I don't like the feel of it, so probably won't step into that revolution either.

SLIDER was a 100% accurate with that analogy.  WELL SAID.

Well my  :twocents:
I think it is the greatest. I follow all the recomendations and am more aware of scent than before.
I tend to move more than the average hunter (of course now I have compared myself and will get mass arguments over who is in better shape!!!!) --sarcasim--
It is not intended to remove scent, but help control it. After a morning hunt, I can unzip my coat and smell what I had for breakfast, if I hugged the wife goodbye, if I had been near any fire, --you get the point.
All I know is after I started using it, I have killed 6 bulls in rifle season at less than 20 yards, 4 never knew I was there. I have had many deer and elk walk right by me and not wind me or get by me and then get a hit of something and run right back by me.
The more I use it, the more aware I am of scent and how I need to change my tactics.
Its not in my mind but my nose!!!
I prefer everyone to not use it so I can have an advantage. So save your money! Now everyone can trash me  --- Sarcasim ;)

i'll put it this way, after a hike out of a hole, gaining about 1000 feet, i have smelled clients who were wearing the stuff. if i can smell your sweat and stink, then obviously its not doing its intended job. it may be of some use if your hunting style is more passive than  aggressive. go out and beat feet in the hills, and you will stink.

well I have been a little hesitant to post on this thread because I wear a lot of Scent Blockers clothing... I got some for free here 4 years or so ago, and I think the stuff works great.  I have purchased numerous other pieces since as well... One thing I have noticed with any of the scent control gear, is no matter how many times you wash them, they still hold the camo pattern and never fade like many other camo clothing pieces out there!  Which to me is nice, so I am not walking about out in the woods with camo pants that look white because they have faded so much...  Anyways, I have had a few elk and deer walk right up to me while sitting on the ground and sniff me within a few feet, but, I would have to say even I believe the wind and everything was just right because I don't think it masks everything!  I do use the stuff over whitetail hunting - but when your 20 feet in the air I don't think much on the ground is gonna smell you anyways??  Overall, I like the camo patterns and how they work out, and as for the actual scent obsorbtion - I am still up in the air about it!  Get the wind right and you'll be fine!

I certainly believe there are measures hunters can take to reduce their scent signature.  Does it translate into success..... I dunno.  I have done quite a bit a research on the whole subject and believe the cover scents and some of the enzyme and/or bacteria eliminating sprays do reduce the human scent.  However, based on some of that same research I'm almost totally convinced that the clothing is not effective in the least.  I tried to look for objective scientific information as opposed to testimonials.  The basic idea is that Scent Lok relies on activated charcoal.  The military's info on activated charcoal suits indicates that their life span and effectiveness are finite.  You can't simply recharge them by throwing them into the dryer.  Unless Scent-Lok has figured something out that's far more effective the military chem suits it just doesn't make sense that the stuff can work for more than a few minutes.  Bottom-line: when you start really looking at the claims and then hold them to a scientific standard of proof I can find no evidence.

I'm not tryin to trash anyone (or product) here.... just trying to present an objective view on the subject.  Also, wasn't Scent-Lok being sued at 1 point for all this?

Just for the record------Very aggressive hunting style!!! See I knew I would have to explain. I cover more ground than most every hunter I have been around. I am in better shape than most high school athletes at 46 yrs old. This not just my opinion, anyone that knows me can attest that I am the most extreme hunter they know. Of course I know someone will argue they are more extreme now--- heavy sarcasim :)
The point is it works for me because I do hunt harder than most. It gives me the advantage I need. I sweat hard and if it isnt sealed up, yes you will smell me. I don't need any reasearch statistics other than my own sucess.
Now begin the I'm a better hunter than you are stories

I can't remember where I read the article, but basically it said the technology "as stated" in the Scent Blocker commercials was blatant fraud. It did go on to say that it could "possibly" help in situations where the user was sitting idle (they used a tree stand for example) it could hinder your smell from escaping. With any exertion at all the scent blocking idea goes out the window. The article also stated that Charcol looses any filtering ability the first time it gets wet and will not gain it back.
As for scent, with the wind right you need not worry. I have had both deer and elk walk within a couple feet of me while I was smoking! Of course as soon as I moved or they passed me they busted, LOL
Bone, I agree with you about under armor. I do not care for the tight stuff, though I do use the Nike polyester version shirts that fits loosely. I find the older I get the more I seem to sweet and need clothes that breath really well.

The idea of this stuff isnt to hike around in it all day and then hope that it will hide your scent for the remainder of the time that you hunt in it for....most you guys buy or have heard of someone who wears it all the time for three days in a row. only one suit. and you cant wash it while your in the field....the idea is to hike into your area with out the stuff. and then once you cool down and stop sweating profussely, then collect yourself and put the suit or jacket and pants on.

Not for aggressive hunting, only for passive.

Its sounds like alot of people arent fully understanding the full functionality of this stuff. Or maybe over abusing it. You still have to clean yourself. and it is good for a limited time each time, maybe for 9 hours or so of continued use. And from what i have researched and heard. the carbon stuff that is in the suits can be reactivated, or as it is sort of stated, re-energized. to reactivate them you put them in the dryer or in the microwave for a limited amount of time. and then it is good. you are then suppose to put it in a sealable container and take it to your spot were you use it.

This stuff doesnt stop you from stinking, it just slows down and restricts the amount of stink that you are weaping out of the suit. i have used it, i do have it, and i believe it does work to a minimum. And to you all and for myself i think any small advantage that i can have above the next hunter next to me counts.

I'm glad you cleared it up. I'm throwing this stuff away.   ----Really heavy sarcasim----
I don't care what people read about it
I don't care what if someone had an elk run by them while smoking
You can all argue anything that is said on this site.
It works for me!

Now you can argue it doesn't work for me, I'm using it wrong, it's in my mind, I'm sure someone can come up with something I haven't even thought of. Today is the 10th ( had to give you something to argue about tomorrow :chuckle:

I have a jacket but don't wear it because it's uncomfortable.  My favorite tactic is to rub natural scent on myself, Pine Boughs, Sage, Step in cow crap...whatever it takes to help cover my stink.  I don't use scent eliminator, i use cover scents.  I suppose they sell things that smell better than cow $hit, but I'm too cheap to buy it.
