Leupold Warranty ?
« on: May 07, 2011, 12:33:49 AM »
I have a run of the mill Leupold VX-II 3-9x40 that was dropped, dented, and given to me.  I mounted it, and tried to bore sight it, but the reticle will not adjust.  I have been to Leupold's website, and looked for warranty info, because I know its a lifetime transferrable warranty, but cant find any info...I might be blind, but can someone help me out with a link to the instructions on sending it in?

Thanks Crunchy, do I just box it up and send it in?  Do I need to provide return shipping and handling money as well?  I will call Monday during customer service hours...

My old vari-x11 hit the ground hard and got knocked out of whack. Sent it back to Leupy and they had it dialed in about a week later. They are great with warranty so far in my book.

after failing to get ahold of anyone via email/phone, I just boxed it up with a letter describing of the problem, and mailed (ups, tracking and such) it away... new binocs on my door a few days later.

my wife and I both use Leupold cascade binos and it seems like every fall we abuse them and have the eye reliefs wear out on them so we just box them up and send them in with a small note that tells what is wrong with them, usually within two weeks we have two brand new pairs of binocs at our door... we only pay for shipping to leupold, they ship it back

I have nothing but good things to say about the Leupold warranty. I had a pair of 12x50 gold ring binocs that I dropped and busted something loose inside. Sent them in telling them that it was my fault, I dropped them, and about a week later I got a brand new pair.
I also have an older spotting scope that I bought used, never did have either the eyepiece cover or the obj. cover. Called them and a little bit later, they sent me both, for free.

Not yet, I keep forgetting.  I did contact them, and they said to mail it in, and they will fix or replace it though.  I just need to take the 5 minutes to take it off, put it in a box and mail it...

I'm a huge fan of Leupold and buy only their optics. Two examples why: Sometime in the late 60's early 70's my Grandpa bought his first Leupold scope. 2-3 years ago he fell knocking his gun off the wood pile in the garage and also causing a couple blocks of wood to fall on it. Caused some damage to the scope which would be considered his own fault (and that of old age). They obviously didn't make the same model he had anymore so they sent him a brand new one 40 years later. The second example was that I had a pair of Leupold binocs that I bought around 2003 - I tore the living hell out of those optics. Eventually used them as under the truck seat optics. Dropped them several times, banged them into stuff, etc... They never leaked, never fogged, and never had a problem. Eventually I busted an eye cup off and lost it. Called Leupold and they said send them in. I did and they didn't make that model anymore either so they sent me a brand new pair that were even better. The only thing I paid was shipping to them. I'm now the proud owner of a pair of Gold Ring Binocs, two Mark IV scopes, and the RX-IV rangefinder- never a problem with any of them.

Mailed the scope off a few weeks ago, and kinda forgot about it.  Got it back the other day.  they didnt replace it, but they went through all internal parts, all external parts, re-zeroed it, and sent it back to me good as new.  Now I just need to mount it and bore sight it, and dial it in.

I've delt with Leupold a bunch, it is my understanding that denting your scope or the repair of the dented tube is not covered by warranty. They can leave the dent and repair the internals free of charge but as for a dented main tube that a 100.00 fix. I know! :)
