Just curious, again, how many have seen or encountered a grizzly in this state, another of the Protected species, and how did you handle the encounter.

Seen them in Pullman. Of course that is in the cages they house them. Spoke to a gammy just north of Usk that talks about some griz ranging in the area out of Canada but never seem one in person in the wild.

Theres quite a few big boys in Pend Orielle Co. northeast part. Ive heard of one male that was a giant, however I never saw him personally. Kinda makes you want to sleep a little closer to ol Dirty Harry while in the woods thats for sure.

I think last year some guys poached one and tried to hide it and got busted. They are around for sure. I have never seen them myself.

There was one that live not too far off Stevens Pass for many years...Forest Circus kept telling me it was a cinnamon blackie...I know better. They were not wanting to scare the granola crunchers.

Yes. Northport about ten years ago. Canadian collared bear I figured. Snuck within 50 yards and got pics with a disposable camera.

There's a valley, northwest of Cady Pass. 'I' am confident at what I saw. Three years ago. Rumor had it, (spoke to a camp host that saw him once), that there was a young male hanging around west of Black Pine Lake. A few sightings from those that should know the difference, but nothing confirmed by a bio that he knew of. There was one on the north slope between Rainy and Washington passes last year. Pretty sure that was confirmed. I've seen some tracks in Indian Heaven that fit the bill, but nothing actually making them at the time.

I haven't seen one in the wild in Washington but my dad and uncle saw one several years during a elk hunt about 10 miles in from Packwood.

northport area..few times
Ok.....Now I gotta share what was told to me. (I have not seen any in Wa.) but I have owned land up around there for 20+ years now. Last sept. I saw a couple (as in people) looking to buy the land next to me....figured they would buy the land after they looked at it (beautiful piece but a little over priced) so I called John...the local realtor. I asked him if there were people interested and he told me they were ready to sign papers, they just wanted to go look one more time for survey markers (Thats when I saw them walking back in on the property) but they came back shaking and scared because they said they saw a grizzly back in there that wouldn't run away from them.....said it just stared at them while they were backing out. They saw a black bear their first trip out there but the grizzly got to them mentally and they didn't want the land.....said they were going looking farther south and west a little bit.
Now...I take everything with a grain of salt but what makes this interesting is what happened the day before.
The day before, me and a buddy were down at KUK's tavern (oldest est. tavern in the state of Wa., 1888) belly up to the bar, enjoying a cold beverage. We were talking to a local and he asked where my place was. I told him "just past the Waneta boarder crossing" and the first words out of his mouth was ....BE CAREFUL OUT THERE, he had see a grizzly cross the road in front of his truck just past the big aspens the day before. Said he was 100% positive it was a grizz....middle of the day. Do I believe it.....with those two stories....yes, I do.
Like I've said.....I have never seen them but I do know they are there. Talked to a game officer before about the collared one, my buddies have seen a momma and a cub out towards Sullivan lake.

There are numerous confirmed sightings across the river from you. I know a WDFW agent who saw some of them himself. I am sure with Grizz west of you and east of you, eventually you will have grizz livin with you...
almost to forgot to mention, i have never seen one either...
