Re: Also Drew White River Elk!!!!!!!! ARCHERY
« Reply #45 on: August 22, 2011, 01:07:05 PM »
Just found out the other day I drew my first bull tag archery for white river. But dont know where to go talked to several guys and they said to kill a nice bull to go up in the high country and not down low where the indians have been. Any thoughts or pictures of bulls killed in this unit?

i dont know about that, i know a place in there where the elk are all over you cant walk 5 feet without seeing sign and the trails into it are used so much they look like dirtbike trails but believe me there not, anyways this is down low where everyone drives by.

Nothing wrong with that.  Where you settin up camp?
Not sure yet. Just picked up a new (used) trailer and am not sure how it will do for ground clearance.  Plan on remounting axles, just haven't had time.
How about you?

iv been scouting out the white river unit about 3-5 days a week up outside enumclaw...more then a FEW bulls in there and more then a few elk... iv seen plenty of good bulls in there. thats if you have the access to the land. youll be surprised.. if the indians were in there as thick as you guys think...dont ya think they would be killing them off as they see them, they dont follow any guide lines, last year they proved that fact.

I can't believe it's a draw unit. There is hardly any elk left in there. I know I will be wasting time on my hunt but I might get lucky enough to find one of the last bulls left.

There is a ton of elk in the White River unit still. Deer on the other hand is a different story, but you have to be willing to put in some work and hunt hard.  Just heed to my advice and I am sure you will connect on one, that is if you do your part!
Boom boom boom...

The indians or at least the Mucks don't start hunting until sometime in Sept. They used to hunt in August but I believe their own tribal regs changed that a couple of years ago. They will be there then ALL the time.....may be ok for the arrow boys but it will make it tough for the others with modern and muzzle tags. Also, those fields down near Enumclaw are not in the White River unit and they are for the most part private property....................Les

You might want to look at your regs a little closer.....those fields in the Mt. Peak area are not the Mashel.....that is part of the Puyallup unit just for the record......Les
