When adding sugar I use natural sugar not the white table sugar.  The natural sugar seams to be enough of a difference that it does catch more fish.  I am not sure what other stuff is in the white table sugar.  I use the Pautzke borax - o - fire and add a cup of the natural sugar.  (THIS IS NOT BROWN SUGAR).  then mix it up well and use as Pautzke suggestion for steelhead. 

For salmon you do not use sugar...

What is natural sugar?  I'm not familiar with it but want to start playing around more with various cures.

for steelhead I have noticed the more natural the better..straight out of hens on the river seems to be the best. If I save and freeze I use borax only

Nice Ones Ben ...i never had much luck on humpy eggs for steelhead but silvers and kings ....FISH ON ....We are getting a good supply of eggs now and in a couple weeks we should be able to show off a few kings ...those pinks are good size this year for sure !!
