Chelan Butte Sheep
« on: October 01, 2011, 08:34:18 PM »
I got my sheep this last weekend.  I did alot of scouting this summer and this guy was the one that impressed me the most, he was the leader of any of the sheep that I seen him with. There is such a variety of horn styles on the Butte, but with his mass and width there was not much of a question for me he was the one I wanted. The first weekend I tried taking him with my bow and got within 55 yards, but with the constant wind didn't feel good about taking the shot. I ended up taking him with my 54 cal. Remington muzzleloader at 122 yards in a nasty canyon a few hundred yards up from the river. I want to thank Kelly and Mark, the guys who went with me and helped cape, debone and pack him out, couldn't have done it without you. I also want to thank Roley my taxidermist from wildlife creations, without him and his boat ride we might still be trying to get out of that steep azz canyon.

With the heat we didn't have a lot of time for a variety of pictures.

Congrats.

Congratulations! Nice ram. And also I like the fact that you got him with your smokepole.  If I ever draw a sheep tag, I would like to try to get one with my muzzleloader also, at least i'll give it a couple of days before I pull out the ole 270wsm :chuckle:
