Not OK. Unfortunately there was probably nothing you could have done short of drawing a gun on them and it's really not worth it. Keep at it tomorrow you will get a bigger deer

I am very sorry to hear that, you did the right thing. "even if they were the ones in the wrong" If something had went bad your daughter might have been out a father rather then food. People are crazy and I deal with them all the time. Anyone who is willing to hurt or threaten a human life over a dam animal should not be allowed to hunt. I can understand you getting upset when you were in the right but it's not worth your life.

I guess rolling their ATVs off cliffs would have been a better idea than shooting them..

That's pretty sad. Now they're going to lie to their friends and families, telling them about the deer they got. LOSERS. Any description of the guys or their truck? Maybe somebody knows who the d-bags are. They suck for taking both the deer and the location. Maybe they'll choke on it.

You handled it better than I would have. At the minimum they would of been buying new tires.

I hate to say it for your first deer, but, some hunters are real a-holes when it comes to gettin' a deer. Elk hunters are even worse. Nothing you can do my friend. It's a lesson learned, plus you were alone.

:yeah:

I don't believe I should be punished for being alone. It really shouldn't matter. Yes it is a lesson learned, and it will stay with me forever. Using the excuse I was alone is almost justifying their actions. What they did is wrong no matter what, if I were with a group I would not jump on someone who was alone. I'd congradulate them for a good hunt, and ask if they wanted help finding and moving their harvest. These people are scum and are a prime example for there needing to be more preperation for hunters besides a simple class. People like that need to take a class on ethics and sportsmanship. This isn't finders keepers and this isn't Tee ball, not everyone gets a trophy. I earned my harvest with hard work, determination, and scarifices. I turned the other cheek in this situation and let me say it was VERY hard to do so. I could have acted a fool but at the end of the day i am a single father and what message would me acting a fool give to my daughter? That is the ONLY reason I left the woods today with out another scar on my knuckles.

Sorry to hear that.  Guys that do that are the scum of the earth.  I definately would've flattened a couple tires and taken pics of their license plates and vehicles.  I like the idea of removing the oil drain plugs though, gonna have to remember that one.

Karma is a b***h and they'll get theirs in the end.  Look at it this way, now you get to keep hunting and maybe shoot one bigger!

That sucks...  I would think of it this way though, you are still hunting and the best has yet to come. When you see these guys again, kill them with kindness.  You know if this happens again to play nice and get names then get the plates and let law enforcement handle the rest.  Like I said kill them with kindness.... Just my  :twocents:

Unfortunatly there are a lot of pieces of work out there. My family has tagged deer we have found that have been shot and "weren't big enough" then left to waste, seen muley does opening morning that where shot the night before and left to waste, I've heard stories of guys racing to animals that have been shot to get their tags on first without shooting. In your case guys stealing deer.  I guess you can look at it this way, in walking away you get out alive, in one piece and without having to be bailed out of jail.  You can still put a feather in your cap and gain confidence knowing your game plan worked and you got a deer.  You did the right thing, the meat isn't worth risking it.
