northwest sea ducks guide owner?
« on: December 18, 2011, 07:51:45 PM »
Hey, if your a member on here, the guy who drives the big green truck with the sticker of the olsquaw on it,  a suggestion to you would be not to drive down to hunters hunting a public field because you lease some land next to it, and tell them they are breaking the law hunting where they are hunting, unless you are sure... Just because you drive a big truck and it has a loud exhaust, and you guide for ducks doesn't make you special or above anyone else there buddy..... Just so you know, heres the web page that you can go to so you will not drive down while others are hunting and try to throw your weight around...

http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/wqhp/

And so you know, and don't have to do your own research, heres one of the 5 available options in the feel free to hunt field...

Type 4.  Some hunt sites will offer adequate cover and/or unpredictable hunting, and therefore will be open field access.  This means that hunters (limit of 3) can determine where they would like to hunt within the bounds of the site, and freely move about.  Hunters may bring their own layout blinds, but do not dig pits or leave piles of vegetation at the site.

So while we were sitting off the maintained section of the road, which is legal and hunting a open field access, you need to realize and you should that for one, what you did was almost on the side of hunter harassment, however for you, I won't call the game warden like you repeated multiple times due to the fact that we were startling "your" ducks that you were looking at from your house...

As a guide, you should be held to higher standards and not act like that, you really made yourself look like a fool tearing out of there like that and telling someone who is doing everything legal that they wern't...

Thanks kid

Kyle

sorry had to edit because I wasn't sure if it was a dodge, and not sure if the guy is the owner or just someone who works for him

xxlx7,

If he harasses you and threatens to call the cops, do it for him.

Thats what I do. I don't back down. If they want to confront me for no reason, they are gonna get to do it with the cops there or get a visit they won't like.

I had a Banded hunts guide ask "who the f*ck" I was this weekend because he had rights to a field I was about to hunt. I actually was about to walk my dog but carry a shot gun just in case something had a death wish. It was mid-morning and I only needed one bird for my limit on the day. I asked him who he thought owned the field because I have permission. I knew who he thought owned the field but I knew he was wrong. After going back and forth he is starting to doubt who he thinks owns the field. I knew who owned the field, who leases the field, and who subleases the field. I had permission from all three. If your going to jump my ass you at least have to have your facts straight. This is the same group that put there sign up on state land at the beginning of the season. My hats off to them for trying to make a living with hunting but it seems like every few years we get a new guide service that pisses people off. They struggle for a few years while pissing off a lot of people, shaft a few farmers for money, and then disappear. How about just starting with the latter. It would be a lot simpler.

Why wouldn't you just call the owner?  Seems pointless to post this rant on here.  If I had a problem, I'd go straight to the source and ditch the drama.

A simple google search yielded this info:

Airing such misdeeds on forums such as this is an effective form of modern day social justice.

Seems every season there is at least one thread on guides behaving badly; as it should be if they are acting like jerks.  They have the opportunity for rebuttal.

Post away, it’s the hunting public’s trial by internet.

The info typically gets back to the guides quickly if it's posted.  Most do read the info on the forums.  Some never post though.  I would post the info as well.

The reason I posted it is because I was told he is a member on here... kinda an assneck thing to do on his part... That's why I posted it on here, and yes, I do know where he lives and his phone number, but instead of me "harassing him" I am taking the bigger step and just making him aware and others aware that if you hunt the public field by his house, not to put up with his crap.... Ohh and this was sunday afternoon, at about 3pm, he told us that hunters have been screwing up his property by hunting right next to it....

Another fun thing to do with "sea duck guides" is call the USCG Regional Exam Center in Seattle and ask them to do a license search for the "guide" in question.  (They can't search business name, you have to have his full name) If it comes back 'no license in USCG system', you've got a guy who is taking passengers for hire on navigable waterways without a USCG license.  That's a biggie with the feds and some state LEO.  ~That's a fun flag to raise when I've run into "guides" like this.

Just say'n.  LOL

OH don't get me started about that tool. We had joining properties....That banana split thing doing crop circles at night in the Barley....He was picking up decoys :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: A real sacko sheet.
It is to bad that NS didn't change their name when the new owners took over. NS just left a sour taste in everyone

I was hunting with kyle when this happened......the manner in which this took place beggining with instant threats of calling a game warden and scare tactics taken by this man were uncalled for and quite frankly ruined our hunt. We sat in an empty potato field with decoys set up for 2 hours for the one hen mallard I shot. Upon shooting and going to retireve the bird which fell into the field, in which we were set up he raced down and confronted me. Obviously you did not read the map or look at the aerial photo or see the hundreds of signs marking the QH field. Next time at least know what the **ll you are talking about first. You sir, are a discgrace to sport.

I have been hearing about this too much with guide services, mostly in the big game section.  I am surpised that in this day and age a guide would do that, knowing full well that eveyrone use's some type of social media :dunno:  If I was a guide, I would follow bearpaws example :twocents:

In this state all you need to be a hunting guide is a bunch of stickers on your truck a black hoodie and a big ego.

It's not much better on the fishing side, with the exception we have to be USCG licensed to fish any navigable water.  But the state of WA does not verify that and the USCG rarely runs sting operations on fishing guides.  They seem to do that about ever 5yrs to scare the guide community.

But all these duck guides who run Puget Sound and the Columbia are required to be USCG licensed.  That's why I suggest if he's a sea duck guide you can look into that angle.  9 time out of 10 guides who behave this way are not on the up and up.  IRS also is another way to make their lives hell.  Just say'n.  LOL
