you don't need an aftermarket choke to kill em.  No doubt it helps I think but your improved modified will work and maybe the full on the second barrel. I usually run BBC on geese depending on the size of them. two shot for smaller geese and it helps if you shoot for the head as opposed to a body shot cause geese are tough birds that can take a few pellets. good luck

Use your IC & Mod chokes that came with the gun.  I’ve had good success with 3 ½” Winchester Xpert BB – 1 1/4oz @ 1625fps – Wally world $15/box

IC / M will be fine.  Hopefully he can bring them in close for you.  As for Shells I like #1, BB, BBB or T shot for geese.  For small geese #2 will work.  If you have the money go buy a box of 3-1/2" Hevi-Metal BB or #1 and you will hammer them.  Or as CP a box of the Winchester 3-1/2" BB's.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

I shoot a modified with #2 shot.  Does it every time, though at times I have been tempted to bring some T shot :chuckle:

Many years ago when I hunted with an SP10 my fist shot was 3 1/2 10 gauge shells with hand loaded T's with my last shell at hand loaded F shot.  My first shot was alway at 40 yards as my son had the first shot.   I special ordered the barrel which was 32 inches long.

I ended up selling that shot gun because it was just too heavy.

Man that combo could reach out and kill geese.

I use IC and Black Cloud BBs and they fall down a lot.

Another tip...let him call the shots. Not sure what kind of blind you will be in, but geese look like they are 20 yards away when they are out there 60. This is especially true when you looking through a little slit in the blind. IC/ Mod # BBs should work. If you are pass shooting on 40 yd birds don't be afraid to throw some Ts with a Mod of full choke at them.

I have killed a ton of geese with my 20 gauge 870. A ton.

To be perfectly honest I usually use #2's or #4's. In 13 years of waterfowl hunting I have lost 1 goose.

I would highly recommend not using 3.5" shells (too much bang with a over-under).

You have gotten great advice thus far but this is my  :twocents: concentrate on the white cheek patch
when shooting. You'll have better success. Also geese are big and appear closer than they really are.

Birds flare when people shoulder their gun too soon, this is a newbie waterfowler mistake that you should
avoid. Don't move until your ready to shoot, when you are then take your time with your shot, concentrate
on one bird in the flock. Say to yourself "I am going to kill THAT bird" and you'll look like an old pro.

Another thing. People say goose tastes bad, that is stupid. Geese are absolutely delicious. Ask for recipes if you
have success, I can really help you there.

Its awesome you got invited.

I love goose and the girls love it, too. I always marinate it, usually with Adolph's meat tenderizer and wine or sherry. Sometimes with ginger, orange peel, soy and sake for about 24 hours. Grill it, baby!

I will echo what everyone else has said and recommend you use BB. The 3.5" shells arent necessary to get the job done and will probably recoil quite a bit out of your over/under, but they also put more payload downrange.

Oh yeah, and be careful, this waterfowling business can become addicting  :yike:
