Barnes is making a longer style tsx bullet with higher BC called an LRX. I bought some to try in 7mm and 30 caliber but haven't loaded any yet. I don't think they are building them in .25 cal yet, but you might check.

I just saw shootersproshop has nosler custom ammo with 110 accubonds for 36$ a box. Not sure but that seems like a good deal to me.

:yeah: I would have one of these guns if they would just loose the weatherby tag!  :bash: adds 30% to the price of ammo  :bash:  :bash:  :bash:

Another option is the 264 win mag or the 25:06, both have similar performance.  :dunno:

After pushing a 100gr tsx through a couple elk and a few deer and having none stop the bullet and none take so much as a step......I will just hold another inch into the wind.

I love shooting long sleek heavy bullets, but keep it real.....the Roy was meant to run hard and fast and sting like lightning.

I agree with greg, light boolits pushed fast and hard shot at distances 99% deer are taken at, flat spanks the *censored* out of em... You want high BC move up to 6.5 or 284 where ya get #'s that are worth sumthin.....

Agreed, I have seen nothing (including deer, antelope, bear, elk, moose) walk more than a few steps after recieving a 100gr tsx sent with love.  :chuckle:

All good information here. I've had a .257 for a long time. Found the 115 Partition and the 100 tsx are both very good rounds for the gun and deadly on any deer sized game. I have an older Mark V rifle. I'll be shooting my mountain goat this year if everything goes as planned.

+1. I've used the 100 grain TSX at 3600 to put down lots of critters. A friend of mine recently shot an elk at 450 yards with the same load. I think that's stretching things a bit, but that bullet is a great performer out of the 257.

The 257Wby with 110gr accubonds realy impressed me at how well they shot at long range in the wind, 110 accubonds started at 3550FPS out of my 257wby shoot as flat at 1000 yards with less wind drift then my mail long range rifle a 7RM, shooting 160gr accubonds. The 257Wby wont hang with my 300 RUM at that range but it also wont kick the snot out of you.

I've shot the 100 sp for almost 15 years now. Did you buy the really cheap ones, think they have norma boolits? They are loading some "cheap" stuff for both the 300 and 257 roy, economy loads so they say. Anyhow, I've shot the schitt outta whitetail, muleys, blacktail, bear, antelope and coyotes with the 100 grain hornady inter-locks, from20 yards, to over 500, every one of em failed according to todays standards, but everytime they made meat..................Right now!
