Chinook salmon guide

I am looking into buying my dad a weekend fishing trip for his 60th birthday. His birthday is on Feb 2nd but any time of the year for trip would work. Any recommendations on time, river and or guide to go with to try and get him on some nice Kings?

Personally, I'd buy a trip down near the mouth of the Columbia during the Springer or June Hawg runs.  While I thoroughly enjoy our king fishing here on the upper Columbia, nothing beats catching chromers fresh out of the salt.  There are several threads on here before of good guides on the lower stretch.  I know of a few, but they were all mentioned in these other threads.

B-10 is supposed to be good again this year if the forecast released yesterday is correct.  Usually lots of fish and nice weather.  Might look to the coast in the fall too.  If you time it right, 20 or more kings can be the norm....

I found some old threads about this and just sent out a few emails as feelers to see what is available. Not sure if I would just get two seats to have my mom and dad go or try to book the whole boat and see if I can get some of his buddies to go.

If you're gonna book at least two, I'd book the whole boat.  Usually on only about 1/3 the price more to have the entire boat and at least a couple more seats.

That is what I was thinking. Book the whole boat and then only have 2-3 go out for more room and more personal experience.

I learned a lot about salmon fishing from Bob Sommer, owner/operator at Guidelines Fishing.  Good guy and comfortable boat, fishing mostly on the Cowlitz.

I highly recommend Tom Lines of tight lines sport fishing.  He's out of Des Moines.  He's one of the best herring fisherman I know for springers.

Some of the best is at Buoy 10 the 3rd week of Aug...  Good catches of bigger kings during that time frame that can't be beat...  Search now for decent guides with openings, they will book up, Josh at Three Rivers Marine is always a consistent catch kind of guy.  There was a girl this past year, on her boat they out caught everyone three or four days in row- and I mean everyone.  She had a great sense of humor every time we crossed paths.  Can't remember her name or guide service???  Crap sorry...
