Anybody see or get a BT yesterday?
« on: November 14, 2014, 07:05:00 AM »
I was out at 4:30am yesterday (11/13) hunted until noon and then had other things I had to do. The place where I have been going I have seen deer almost every day of regular hunting season, including 5 bucks. Yesterday I saw nothing at all! No deer, no fresh rubs, nothing. I hike in 2-3 miles behind a gate and every step getting in sounded like walking on a box of corn flakes, frozen ground is noisy no matter what you do. I saw way more pumpkins then I ever have though! Usually see one or two a day and yesterday I saw 8.

I will take the rain and wind over crystal clear, cold days for BT any day!

Anybody else have any luck yesterday, or see anything?

With it being this cold and clear they are feeding at night. Not going to be much daytime movement this weekend Im afraid. A little bit of rut activity may help, otherwise glass southern slopes.

When they feed all night they get up around 11-1 to feed again

I was on my way to work yesterday morning and along Iss-Hobart rd, I saw a doe almost bolt out into traffic. Traffic was bumper-to-bumper and moving slow. I knew what was chasing her so I grabbed my phone and got it ready. as I creeped up to where they were, I could see the buck from his neck-up. Nice 3 point. He was after the doe but had stopped to rake the snot out of an alder  :chuckle:. I almost got a picture but when I looked out my windshield, the traffic had taken off and I had to go.  :dunno:
I've never seen bucks chasing does for so long. It has been going on since mid October.
On 11/2, I even watched a nice 3 point chasing a doe through town by Home Depot. Both of their tongues were hanging out as they ran across the road in heavy traffic right in the middle of the day.
I will say this, the back side of the full moon has always been a tough one for me.

Same story down here.  Super dry alder leaves and frost-heaved grounds.  Super noisy!  Sat on trails for a few hours - nothing moving in the daylight.
