In the newspaper article about it, the dude says he was out for a short drive, took a wrong turn, and then instead of turning around at the end of the visible road, tried to "loop" around to another road.

NEWSFLASH...You didn't loop around, you drove off a mountain, you must have some huge stones.

One would have to believe if he made it that far down, he could make it the rest of the may.  It doesn't appear to be any steeper down there than it did above him.

If the state allows him to get the Jeep out on his own and he rolls it down to the bottom of the canyon is the state liable for his death?  I am guessing that Jeep will be there in April as it will be tied up in court.

Likely a valid concern. I don't know the answer, but it's probably a concern for the state.

Why would he need permission? He already drove it off road, he's already going to get fined. So if he drives it out of there would it be another ticket? If so that's another $175? Seems more affordable than paying for a helicopter to fly it out of there. Of course I suppose if he does try to drive it out if there, he will need help, and the people helping would likely be ticketed as well. That is, if they catch him doing it.
