Ive delayed my posting because I really dont know what to write. I failed pretty much sums it up!!!  I have no regrets, I set a goal and just could not achieve success.

Archery is hard! Lots to learn and trust me Im as frustrated as I have ever been as a hunter.  Just gonna give it some time and see what happens.

Thank you to my crew! They did everything they could for me.  You guys are top notch.

Thank you for following what was my dream to chase monster bulls.

Nothing to write Kurt! Most of us all understand. The hunt is what it is all about. I killed an average Moose last year. Could I have killed a bigger? Guaranteed! We didn't road hunt, we packed in to an area, all to ourselves similar to you.
It was all about the people I scouted and hunted with. All the ups and downs to go with it. Based on the reading I have read, it was a hunt of a lifetime and that's all that counts!
I've drawn that unit and killed a respectful bull and there is no better hunt my hunting partners and I have hunted in this state. We have had other hunts in that unit with no success but had tons of close calls. I'll never forget them!

This was a great thread to follow...even though you didn't get your bull it wasn't a failure....I'm on my 8th year archery elk hunting and have yet to get an elk...frustration? Yeah lots of it but I have had so much fun the last 8 years hunting the rut with my friends and family....I came the closest this year I have ever been and I enjoy it even without harvesting a bull...sounds like it wasn't for lack of effort on your end but sometimes it just doesn't happen....I hiked and hiked and hiked this year to no luck and a friend goes out on opening day after a short hike and sticks one next to the road...thats just the way it goes sometimes...dont get discouraged and your opportunity will come to you...thanks for sharing your awsome adventure with us

RT I came home after hunting for my Peaches tag and I gave it everything I had! I was exhausted fur a week after the hunt. This was a very tough hunt for tag holders. I bet the success rate for archery tag holders was very low.   I'm glad you have no regrets. Even though  I didn't connect  I also didn't have any regrets. Best time I ever had elk hunting!! My hunting parter shot a nice 5x6 his biggest bull. (Peaches archery tag). The exp helping him was awesome. If you want to see the bull let me know. Can't wait to draw another bull tag.

Way to give it your all!! Failure would have been not giving it everything you had. Loved reading your thread, thanks for taking the time to post your journey.

Never a failure to chase what we love pal... You left it on the mountain and we both know you could have taken the easy road but didn't.  I'll support you any time and the next time we draw a tag the Bulls better watch out.  Stay strong my brother... You did it right.

You done good brother, hold your head high!  Just a warning though, you guys best start getting in shape now, because when I draw that tag there's not gonna be any of those old man walk in the woods hunts, it's gonna get "aggressive"  :chuckle:

Failure is when you stop trying, you didn't stop trying/you didn't fail.

It was fun to follow along, thanks to everyone who posted with information on this hunt.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

You did not fail.  You did not meet "your" expectations.  But you did not fail.  Heck any time you are out in the woods learning and having fun it is part of the activity you, me and many others engage in, that is why it is called a sport.  Seems like you and your team had a blast.  Having a goal before you go out is what everyone should do.  For that matter your typical Washington Elk hunting I am pretty happy with a branched antlered bull.

Well said. You had the best of the best hunting crew one could wish for. Excellent food ,excellent calling ,trusted friendship was had , past stories were told , future ones are being made I hope you rate your hunt a A1 plus. Greatest thread this year the only thing that was needed was a little more icing on the cake. If it helps any I went for many years of not notching a tag looking for dink

It's not that he couldn't kill a bull. He had pleanty of chances to shoot smaller ones but chose not to.
