on a lighter note......we didn't stake down the crapper blind this year.  One night it blew so hard, I thought for sure the crapper pop up blind was gonna be gone.  We got lucky and it stayed in place.   :chuckle: :chuckle:

We use a pop up too for crapper too, a primos, because that’s all it’s good for. :chuckle:

Every year I caution the crew about staking down. This year we got some mid day gusts and the crapper went rolling through camp. We caught up to it about 1200 ft out of camp.

That’s a good looking toilet, built for those chili taco nights.

Maybe the pop up was so foul the wind wouldn’t even touch it?  By the looks of the grips on that toilet maybe you should rethink your camp menu.  :chuckle:

Here is our out house. It’s a cabelas shower tent. I got a 15 gallon oil drum from @h20hunter removed the lid and put the lid off open end down marked and cut out the toilet seat hole in the solid end of the drum a little bigger than the toilet seat hole, filed the cut edges smooth and then screwed the seat to the can.

Here is the high wind seat belt material sewn on the eaves on my Bravo tent.

My dad and I put a down payment on a Bravo Supergrade tent at the sportsman show. One of the upgrades was a floor. We were undecided at the time. What do you all suggest? Thanks.

I have the removable floor in mine and love it. I put the floor down first, then assemble the frame on top of the floor with legs only on one side of the frame then I roll out the tent over the frame lift the side with no legs and put the legs in place.

I have removable floors in my three tents.
I stand the tent, then put down a regular tarp one with different color sides, black brown. Always put black down.

Then I put my floor over that which are heavy hay tarps. The ground tarp keeps the floor clean , because things get buddy when set up for ten days. Works great for me.

I purchased their seamless heavy duty floor tarp and love it.  I also purchased a heavy duty canvas tarp separately.  I put the seamless tarp down on the ground and the heavy duty canvas on top of that for warmth.   It is pretty amazing set up.  You guys will love the tent….i have one with all the bells and whistles and have never regretted the purchase.

We have the Bravo Supergrade. Great tent. Didn't opt for his floor. We use RV style outdoor mats so that the dirt and wet passes through. At times, we've put straw under the mats to increase warmth and comfort. At times, have also put old wool blankets on top of the mats near the cots for more warmth and comfort. Stocking feet in the tent is a great feature.

We opted for the mosquito net for the door. It ties in, so it is removable. If you use the tent in warmer weather, it is well worth the money. Can always buy that later, too. IDK, if its standard now or an option, but the vinyl material on the bottom edge is a must.

The Alanak is bulletproof with floor - no critter problems.   Add the Sportsmans lodge tent as cookshack and you have a heckuva basecamp.

I never could find stakes I liked, so we took a couple days and built our own stakes out of 12 inch nails for all my tents, I now have three 5 gallon buckets of nail stakes. I found cases of 12" Nails, we welded a washer about 1 to 1.5 inches from the head of each nail. Don't have a photo handy of them so will post a drawing. I like them because I can pound them in tight to the ground and the head sticks up enough to use a claw hammer to pull them out even after ice builds up on the ground around the sides of the tent. These 12" nails (which are the longest I could find) work great 95% of the time.

Sometimes in soft soil areas I will use two nails to stake down each tent rope. Someday I hope to cut some rebar 18" long and weld a couple washers on to get longer but similar style stakes for soft soil areas.

For heat we use either wood stoves or buddy heaters. There has been so much fire danger the last few years we are mostly using the buddy heaters. I also have big kerosene heaters we used to use, but they are bulky, can't be packed in on horses very easily, better for drive-in camps, and need jugs of kerosene. The cost isn't too bad to run the kerosene heaters if you buy a barrel of kerosene. But we almost never use them anymore. The buddy heaters are handier and I'm already packing in propane stoves and bulk tanks, so we can use the same fuel with the buddy heaters.
