Went to check my cams yesterday.....my main area is closed by the owners.....fire danger. Shucks........don't think I will get to hunt it for deer/bear this year. I need to go knock on a door and ask if I can walk in and pull my cams.

bummer!!!

I've got the same problem with my cams, and it really bums me out that I may be sitting bear out when I was so close twice last year.  Oh well, looking for new spots is never a bad thing.

Heck yeah, Mt. Baker forest here I come!  Backpacking up to the high country on July 31, pitch the tent, get some sleep, pressing 'start' on the season come the AM on Aug 1.

I'll be out there, somewhere. First time hunting bear for me. Wish me some luck, I really need to fill my freezer this year.

Now that we're close...

August 1st, is a Saturday. I'm going to be out there. I have a place I've been scouting. It should be an awesome experience... kayaking in, hiking some, camping, glassing and glassing, spotting (hopefully), stalking, etc...

I predict good times.

Good luck to everyone.

I like the sound of that. Best of luck to one and all. Aim true, and remember that heat you will be dealing with early on!

I'm getting ready for a solo backpacking excursion into the Olympics.  Finishing up some handloads for my 280 Ackley tonight.  Did a scouting trip last weekend and the huckleberry fields are primed.  If I'm successful going to have to do a quick debone and stage meet in a creek bottom while I leap frog it out to the trail head.

the low bush berries were starting to come on about the 4,000 ft level but I don't think they will be at peak for a couple more weeks.
