Seems we need to apply more pressure.  Maybe we need an email group of people who send him one every month.  Show them we aren't going away.
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

I am up for anything which people feel will work.  Nothing seems to get their attention in Olympia.

who is running WDFW.

Easy, special interest groups with big financial backing.

Wow, if this new director doesn't end up demoting or firing cenci and his partner, I will have zero respect for wdfw leadership.  I still highly respect a couple game wardens that I've personally met but the rest of this department is really screwed up. Time to meet up with Jesse Jones with all your info!!

I don't anticipate anything happening at this point, so go ahead with your zero respect.  Obviously, for some unknown reason, Cenci is untouchable.

There are many fantastic field officers, which is why I have spent so much time and effort on this; for those good officers.

I am working with the media already, and hopefully a story will be on television soon.

I've been really paying attention to this, and have done my part in terms of emails, contacting Unsworth directly,  the Governor, my state rep's, etc.   There is only one thing that politicians respond to, and that is pressure.  Have enough of us on here taken the simple steps to put pressure on those who seem to want to sweep this under the rug?  Todd can't do this all on his own - a letter to your senator, a letter to Unsworth at director@dfw.wa.gov, a letter to the Governor (go through the Governor's site) or maybe even tweet at him for comment on the WSP investigation: @GovInslee - it all helps.

At this point, I would have hoped that Unsworth would have had enough of the shenanigans that seem to be the culture in the WDFW Enforcement division and start cleaning house.  He obviously hasn't.  Not sure what it will take at this point.  He confidence in Joseph Stohr appears misplaced.  To allow Stohr to summarize the WDFW report, suggest recommend actions to be taken based upon his summary, and not demand more accountability for the tragic condition the Enforcement division finds itself in is a mistake.  He obviously has big fish to fry, but I now think he doesn't respect how stinky this fish will get if he doesn't cook it sooner than later.

My  :twocents:?  Unsworth needs some more pressure from the sportsmen of Washington to finally "Cowboy Up" on this and demand that Cenci be reassigned to a job that includes no supervisory responsibilities at a minimum.  For anybody to get away with this behavior in the private sector is unthinkable - why do we tolerate this from public employees?  Especially those who have demonstrated such a lack of integrity while in a position of authority over the citizens they are employed to serve?

WDFW LEO's have a tough enough job without a being associated with a high-profile and seemingly untouchable Deputy Chief with narcissistic tendencies.  Mike Cenci is bringing the whole team down, and he appears to be the only one that doesn't suffer the consequences.

So strange.

Steve and Joe,

I am extremely disappointed to see this kind of unprofessional behavior again reported about Mike Cinci. Steve you have told me that Mike had been coached and assured me that this type of bullying would not be tolerated in the future. I am also disappointed of the model he is setting for Captain Myers and others in the supervisory chain.

I know Kim Chandler and have confidence in the things he says.  I do believe this happened as he reports.

Steve, I would like you to work with Joe and Cindy to develop a strategy where Mike can be transferred to a non-supervisory position.  Please work with Irene to find a time that we can discuss in more detail.

Jim

Director Unsworth,
When I visited you earlier this spring and we had a conversation about the enforcement leadership, we talked about the issues we were having with Captain Alan Myers and Deputy Chief Mike Cenci. The issues we Sergeants in Region 4 are having with Captain Myers are still numerous and we are all trying to deal with those.  The one thing that I did tell you when we visited the last time was that Mike Cenci never has directly done anything to me.  That has now changed.  Last Tuesday, 6/9, I was called in to Captain Myers office at Mill Creek and took a pretty good dressing down for numerous points relating to reasons why my detachment didn’t have any activity to send to him for the weekly report.  That in itself didn’t make a lot of sense to me because of previous direction from Deputy Chief Hobbs on what was needed in the weekly reports for Hot Topics, but there were perhaps some valid points made and I took note.  A few minutes into the conversation, Captain Myers’ phone rang and we were joined on speakerphone by Mike Cenci.  I then endured nearly 20 minutes of attack, bullying and belittling that culminated in being told that I didn’t have a clue what Title 69 and the sanitary shellfish program was about and that if I didn’t start doing a better job of supervising, he was going to “plant his boot so far up my ass that I wouldn’t be able to see it”.  I listened respectfully despite the fact that I have no respect for that kind of supervision and then left the office feeling more defeated and angry than I have in quite some time.  I also witnessed absolutely no reaction from Alan Myers as to what was just said.  You may be wondering why I don’t take this up with Chief Crown but to be honest, there have been too many instances in the past of similar issues that he has swept under the rug and ignored so I don’t feel that is an option.  I have contacted my union steward and Teamsters representative and am still deciding on whether or not to contact Human Resources.  I realize WSP is currently conducting an investigation and I’m not sure what the time frame is on that, but for myself and many others, some sort of resolution is needed soon.  This unprofessional leadership is having a profound effect on morale and is undermining the wellbeing of the entire Department.

Thank you for your time.

Respectfully,
Kim Chandler

My email to Director Unsworth today:

"Director Unsworth,

I wonder why so few of the comments regarding Deputy Chief Cenci (only 7 of the total, by my count) made it into the 391 comments that were published on the WDFW website in response to your reaching out to the sportsmen of Washignton?  I personally know of a few that are missing - including mine.  Are you 100% sure that all of the comments that were submitted were published?  I would not put it past the crew you have in WDFW Enforcement to have a hand in editing those comments somehow.  There are some cutting remarks about yourself, some not possible to print in the newspaper -  so I know that they comments weren't edited for vulgarity.  I also know that my comments contained no inappropriate comments - unless you are an Enforcement officer under fire and want to silence some of the critics.  The reach of the corruption in Enforcement is staggering... a condition that has been laid bare by the WSP investigation.   Please look into why all of the comments were not published.

What is your official response to this investigation?  I certainly hope it isn't completely encapsulated by the email string between Joseph Stohr and yourself (made available the a public documents request).  Allowing Stohr to review and recommend the fixes is akin to having the fox guard the henhouse.

Director Unsworth, I have never been so hopeful for a positive change in state of the WDFW Enforcement as I was when I learned that you would be taking the helm in Anderson's absence.  There is a malignant cancer in the Enforcement division that requires a strong, assertive leader to cut out.  By the text of your own email to Steve Crown and Joseph Stohr regarding the treatement of Kim Chandler, you are fully aware of the imputence that Cenci feels he can operate with.  The overturned firing of Dave Jones should clearly demonstrate to you that this department is not running on an even keel - there is corruption, and as a citizen and lifetime sportsman of Washington State I am asking you to show the leadership we all expect a person in your position to demonstrate and cut out the cancer.   This will mean a lot of work for you, I understand.  I am imploring you to take on the challenge anyway and do the right thing.

When will you have had enough of the Enforcement circus whose ringleader holds a DC title?  Please don't allow the low actions of a few entrenched bad apples to sully your directorship.  A major part of your legacy will be cleaning up that mess - or not.

Very best regards,"
