I hunt with my dad and wife.  I just want someone to draw a good tag so we can go on fun hunt.  I truly don't care who draws.  Good luck everyone!

Really have a good feeling this is the year that somebody I knows draws a good permit for elk.

I don't need to be the pig, I can be the chicken and just involved.

Backstory, when talking to his son about involvement and commitment, a father used an eggs and bacon breakfast as an example.  He said, the chicken is involved in the breakfast, the pig is committed.  :chuckle:
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Every father should remember that one day his children will follow his example instead of his advice.

LOL Im with you there. I really dont care who draws in our family or group bc its blast just being there. I really hope my wife draws Elk, she has 8 points so shes starting to get into that range. Hopefully something happens for her. She has 9 for deer on top of that, so Im really pullin for her. You never know, but one thing is for sure... We all still have hope which is fun

:yeah: :yeah: :yeah:  I SO BADLY want my dad to draw his quality or bull tag this year!  I want to be there with him when he smacks a monster!  He'll be 73 this year and is still a tough SOB, but the days of running in the dark and deep canyons are dwindling.

Only five more days and we will know. No elk permits for me this year though. I only applied for moose and quality deer.

Why no elk tags ? Seems like your shorting yourself chances at awesome tags for a pretty low price

Five days is just my guess. I have no inside info. June 10th wouid put it at the same number of days from the deadline as it was last year.

No elk applications, yeah I know, I can barely believe it myself. But I just didn't feel like I would have the time to put into a special permit elk hunt this year, and a general season tag is basically a choice between giving Weyerhaeuser $300 for access or hunting spikes on the east side.

To make up for it I'll be spending time and money in Wyoming again, just like I've done the last two years.

I totally agree with that and I always recommend people at least apply for the point option. But I'm short on money this year, and I bought a deer license and nothing else. So for $45 I get a full year of hunting for deer, coyotes, and grouse. This was my year to give Washington state the least amount of money as possible. The only way the state's getting more money from me is if I draw a moose tag.

This is the first time in 30 years that I haven't bought an elk tag. I'll probably get something figured out for next year. So I'll be in the draw next year with 9 points when I could've had 10. But that's okay. It might actually work out well. I skipped the bighorn sheep drawing for two years and then drew a tag the first year I applied after the two year break. Might work for elk too.  :dunno:

I sure think so. I'm hoping for Friday. Earlier would be better of course, but I don't want to wait through another weekend.

Except for Naches, he said he drew Goose Prairie, which is in the quality category.

There is also a Goose Prairie permit in the Bull Elk category.

Yeah you're right. I was thinking of the muzzleloader permit, but I guess Naches must have got a rifle tag this year.
