The duramax/allison is a proven combo, the chevy interior is what turns me away.

They're 100x nicer than any Dodge.

Is this alcohol induced?!?!?!? :chuckle:

Chevy induced.

Dodge interiors have come a long way in the 4th Gen models.
I still think GM and then Ford have more comfortable seats.

My 06 Dodge seats leave a ton to be desired.

I will say, I had a chevy prior to the dodge.  It was wayyyyy more comfortable inside.  The problem is it blew up at 100K.  That's about all the GM rigs are good for. :chuckle:

I work for a Ford service department and my pay plan is commission based solely off the repair work I sell. Last year I made more money than I ever have before.
Keep on buying them Ford's, folks.

So you sell unnecessary work?  :chuckle:

Fords break a lot more than Dodges did....I'll tell you that with 100% certainty. Now granted, it might have to do with the fact that there are a lot more Fords serving commercial purposes than Dodges, but holy crap they break a lot and they're not cheap to fix.

I own both and see good and bad with both. I like both and dislike both for certain reasons!  :chuckle:
Do you think the Fords break more often due to having more bells and whistles to go wrong or is it the meat and potatoes mechanical items like motors, tranny, and steering that break more often?

I'm also wondering if you think it's newer models that break more often?

Do you see more older Fords breaking more often too?

Not to hijack this thread but we all might only have diesel rigs in 2040 as the US seams to be a follower on these movements.  UK is planning on banning all gas cars by 2040.

The eco crowd wants to ban all fossil fuel engines and go to electric, but they don't know where all the electricity is coming from or how the electric grids can handle the demand! It's pretty safe to buy a vehicle that uses gas or diesel.

There are a lot more diesels in many other countries because they get much better mileage. It seems funny when you compare fuel mileage and longevity why there aren't more diesels and why gas engines are so popular in the US.

It all comes down to the emissions standards here, hence the VW TDI scandal.

Mine was the turbo (had to do it twice because they tried to re-use a gasket), the exhaust manifold and some sensor. They had to replace at least one of the large bolts that hold the cab on each time they took it off. The extended warranty that I thought was overpriced paid for itself x3.

I'm pulling out with the 03' Duramax with Chassis dog box, car trailer and Honda Pioneer in tow. Transmission is again popping into safe mode going up hills over 65mph. 120K miles. Wish it could pull a heavy load more reliably like my 02 Powerstroke. Never had any transmission issues with the PSD 7.3L combo in all the 250K some odd miles I've owned it. Oh well, the Chevy has leather seats and rides like a pimpin' Cadillac floating and bouncing down the freeway so, at least I'll be comfortable if I have to sit on the side of the road waiting for a tow to the transmission shop....lol.

Is that your new backcountry rig?

I figure I can at least plug up a lot of trailhead parking with it.

It's more for traveling with the wife...

I thought of this thread today as we passed a dodge hooked to a 5th wheel.  It was parked on the roadside with the hood up and flashers on.  Lol.   Made it to Texas with zero issues.  Thanks for the prayers Timberstalker.

Thanks.   I wanted to get a picture of it, but I couldn't get my phone out in time.   I like to give dodges a hard time, but honestly we did consider them when looking to get a diesel.  We drove both and I just liked the Chevrolet better.
