Muzzy for my 12 year old

I知 putting my 12 year old in for multi season and if he gets drawn I知 purchasing him a muzzy. I muzzy hunt for elk religiously, know my way around a muzzleloader I have a knight disc extreme 50 cal and a Thompson center 58 cal. One is to heavy and the other the stock is two long. He is a decent shot with open sights. Just need to find one that fits him. And as simple as possible. Haven稚 done a lot of research yet wanted to come here first to see if you guys got any recommendations for a youth model muzzy. He is not a very big kid but Shoots his 243 and 6.5 with sticks and his 22 with ease all youth models and has killed a deer in Idaho. So he not a green horn but definitely still a apprentice. thanks for the help

CVA Optima is what I have and they're as simple as can be, and compact/lightweight. I think it would be perfect for a kid. Probably would want to keep the powder charge on the light side though so recoil isn't too brutal.

Yeah I知 goin to start light and go up from there I shoot granulated so I知 able to fart around with it easier

I am assuming that the DISC is to long for him - but it is an excellent rifle... You can do a couple of things

1. Change recoil pads to a thinner recoil pad - the Limbsaver #1052 will actually absorb more recoil than does the factory Knight.  It is 5/8" thick as compared to the 1" Knight.

2. Remove current recoil pad and cut the dimension that you want and then add a new recoil pad.

Plus you might look at the Knight Littlehorn - It is designed for youth.

  The CVA optima would be a good choice. Depending on the size of the child, the CVA Wolf might be a good fit as well.  It is a simpler version of the Optima with a shorter barrel which makes it a little bit lighter.

Another vote for the CVA.... I love my Optima, super simple. The CVA Wolf is a little different and a bit shorter stock, might be a good option.

I think the cva wolf might be too long in the pull length (14 inches) I like the Knight Littlehorn, length of pull around 12 I think. I am  a woman with short arms, like my knight muzzleloader A LOT. And I wouldn't really worry about the recoil- it's more of a  push than a sharp crack.

You know the Impact really is not that bad of a rifle... see a lot of people using it and with Washington's new rules you can use 209's so might be a good look see

My cousin has used one for his San Juan Island deer gun and it kills em dead. He lets my niece use it when I bring her over and she likes it. I have since bought one and it shoots great.

Not sure if your elk hunting or deer hunting but @Sabotloader dialed me in with a 45 cal setup in a 50 cal night bighorn. Sabot that a 45 cal bullet fit in light powder charge for no kick and would knock down deer. Once they get good with that throw a 50 cal bullet in up the charge a little and go after elk too.
