big shout-out and thank-you to Sabotloader
« on: September 02, 2019, 06:17:37 PM »
I just wanted to thank Sabotloader for continuing to mentor me in the ways of muzzleloading.  I drove the 8 miles over the stateline this morning, and he generously spent three hours with me on several issues with my two main muzzleloaders (both Knights- one Bighorn and one Mountaineer).  I really needed to get the Bighorn figured out, since it is the gun that I am using to mentor a first-time hunter for a whitetail hunt this fall.  There were some long-term bore-fouling issues with it, and Sabotloader helped me understand some products (like JB Bore Paste) that returned to the bore to a great condition.

And it didn't stop there- Sabotloader taught me how to adjust the trigger pull length and the trigger weight on Knights, and a better way to clean out the trigger assembly.  Lastly, we had a great discussion on the latest in muzzleloader bullets (both full-bore and sabot).

I can't even begin to thank Sabotloader for his incredibly expansive knowledge and generosity.  I have mentored three people to their first deer with muzzleloaders, in large part because I can fall back on Sabotloader's experience and willingness to share it.  It really inspires me to give as much as I can to the next generation of hunters (and learn as much as I can from guys like Sabot!).

I've not met the man, but I sure do appreciate his willingness to share what he ;earns from the many hours he spends playing with muzzleloaders.

That's a fine quality.
