I hear the Losers Lounge just received a truck load of Camo facemasks, complete with tear-outs for beer drinking and cigar smoking.  Now, lets hope they have the shelves stocked back up and the coolers full of cold beer.  With the COVID lockdown the alcohol sales were through the roof, I hope management was aware and replenished in time, we are getting close to our annual get-together with long faces and sobbing eyes ready to bitch about everything that is wrong with hunting in this state.

I also hear they have forgone the 50% capacity rules, as they know we will all have guns and enforcement may be tough.

See ya all soon...... :cryriver: :guns: :brew:

I learned many years ago to wait for multiple threads being started of "I drew .... but never stepped foot in the unit" before I even consider thinking results are out. It is inevitable that there will be numerous fictitious posts in the name of humor that people will fall for each time. Yearly ritual of HuntWa

They need to do away with more then one choice. Pick a area.  Everyyear I meet guys who drew some unit they never hunted before and are disappointed.  Takes time to learn a new unit.

Even with only one choice people will apply for areas they haven't hunted before, and there's nothing wrong with that. I've drawn several permits for units I hadn't previously hunted. I don't see the big deal. If someone isn't successful because they didn't have experience in the unit who cares. That's their choice.

My comment about never stepping foot in the unit was not because I have any issue with it but because they seem to be the ones that post something early on. I personally have applied for units that I had little to no knowledge about. There are tons of units that you wouldn't just hunt with an OTC tag but would with a permit so you apply. Its actually a great way to learn a new unit if you are lucky enough to draw because scouting a new unit for an OTC generally isn't nearly as fun or in depth as a permit holder scouting. The anticipation and excitement of holding a permit is plenty of motivation to spend the extra time and money really learning a unit versus just finding a spot or two in the summer to give it a try that fall.  :twocents:

At this point in my last year hunting in this state and applying for 23 years and only getting 2 cow tags I would take anything anywhere.  Off to Alaska where you can still get tags!

:yeah:

Not to mention, with the amount of information that is easily available these days - identifying areas to apply and then figuring out where/how to hunt if drawn...makes applying and hunting for areas you have never set foot in much more feasible and successful.

Where’s the easiest place to find out, once it is out?
This is my first year.

Just searching the results on WDFW website, login to fishhunt.wa.gov or something else entirely?

WDFW is following major store chains due to covid. The first hour of special permit selection will be reserved for those applicants over 65 years of age. The selection process usually takes about 59 minutes. Sorry kids.   :hello:
