Thats a beauty Dragon. I've told my son to shoot one that he will want to look at the rest of his life. I believe he understands to wait for "the one"...

I think you'll find there are more then one that's the one. And even better I don't think I saw another hunter after all the elk hunters left on Sunday. Got mine on Monday opening day.

And forgot to mention I got him on top of the ridge just west of the visitor center. Have fun.

I can tell you that it has gone downhill unless it’s rebounded in the last year or so.

Who cares if it's gone downhill, there are still some WA studs in there for sure. I'd love the tag.

Great buck dagon. What year was that?

:yeah: We're all aware that mule deer hunting in WA is nowhere near what it used to be. Everything has gone downhill. No need to continually crap on the excitement of every QD tag holder out there with these comments IMO

I wasn't trying to crap on anyone's enthusiasm, but it isn't bad to have a realistic idea of how to approach the hunt IMO.  I was also responding to his original post, as I hadn't read the replies yet.  My bad!

I'm sure there are great bucks in there still.  I first hunted there in the early 2000s.  We killed a buck that scored over 180.  Hunted again a few years ago.  Hunted all but a couple days and never saw a mature buck.  We saw dozens of young bucks with good genetics.  I talked to tag holders the last two years, and they never saw a mature deer either.  I'm sure the genetics are still there but the old deer are fewer and farther between.

I still put in for the tag.  When and if I draw, I'll be far from any road hoping to find a mature buck that escaped the pressure.

looks like I have 15 points this year sooooo!!! There ya go. Thing is everyone was saying how bad things had gotten back then with hair loss (never saw one with that) and over hunting (don't think so). Anyway I'll take it next year if you guys will all promise to put in for something else. Really it sucks now. lol
