Smacked some wild pheasants!
«

Well my cuzz talked me into going over to pomeroy. I have never been in that area before, and he is always talking about it. So we made the trip over Tuesday and came back last night. We had a great trip, it was really cool to see the number of birds. I have taken a few wild birds over the years around here. But most are stocked birds that are around here. Those birds are jumpy as heck! they are smart to.
ended up getting my limit on Tuesday and 2 roosters and 2 quail yesterday. we also did a little duck hunting as well, but the bird numbers were really low for some reason. So we did not do to great. Got to see a few really nice bucks, and one true giant mule buck as well. He was high 190-200" a deer of my dreams
all we had was the cell phone camera and we were kicking our selves
but o well. it was a great trip, lots of fun and some good times. thanks to my cuzz mikey for dragging me out there.

we saw a ton of birds but most were along the roads on private ground. on the hunting ground we were hunting, that was public maybe 10 birds each day. most were hens. we got perrmission on some great private ground, then the numbers really went up

thanks for taking me into the "way back" machine...about 12 years ago me and a buddy hunted around Moses Lake for ducks for a couple days...he got a call from some of his old friends that were huntin pheasants in the Colfax area and wanted us to come over. We hunted for a few days between Benge ( a "town" that was only a grain silo) and Colfax and shot some wild roosters.....one of them is still stuffed on my wall....great times....wish i could do it again...every time i look at that rooster i remember my old chocolate lab Gator...god i loved that dog

I hunted around Central Ferry again this year and did ok, but haven't been able to bring myself to make the exta 20 mi. trip to Pomeroy. I'll have to check it out. Next year I'm going to bring a deer rifle too.

Looks like a great couple days in the bird fields. Great work out for you and the dog. Chances are he will not have to drag you out next time
