Thanks!!! Long time no talk!! Hows it been??

Heres the story. I saw a couple of bucks down in a flat by the river and one was a Tall but light 4X4. I actually saw him doggin a doe the other day but let him walk. Then I saw a Nice 4X4 with the tallboy but he had a broken brow tine and G2 so I let him walk. Then I farted around with this coyote for about 30 minutes. Had a heck of a time yippin at him.

So then he ran off when he figured out I was bad news and I saw a nice deer doggin a hot doe. I put the glass to him and he was a 5X5. he was 450 out so I needed a better look but the horny sumbitch wouldnt leave that damn doe alone. Finally he stopped and I could see he was a 5er and not broke so I decided to take him. As luck would have it he walked straight towards me and closed to 200 yards STRAIGHT DOWN!! LoL. I got him to stop and touched off. Oh how I love the Accubond POP!!!! He slowly trotted to a big tree about 20-30 yards away and tipped over.

Only problem was, I was up here

He was down there

Here's how I found him

So I tried the gutless method, which worked great. I boned him out and put him in my pack. What a load though. That trip kicked my ars!!!

The long way home. See that Ponderosa way down in the bottom? Yep thats where I was. LoL. OUCH!!

My cousin left for Montana yesterday, so I took his girlfriend out this morning to Vail. I already shot a deer and my wife shot an elk, so our freezer is full and the wife (who is 6 months pregnant) decided to stay home even though she still has a tag.
At about 10 am, I spotted a decent 2 point buck on the edge of the reprod in a clearcut we were watching. After getting her set up and calmed down, she made a perfect shot and dropped her first deer in his tracks at about 100 yards. I was pretty happy for her and I got to teach her how to field dress an animal.
She is a member on here, so hopefully she posts some pictures and the whole story when she gets a chance.
The best friend a guy could have asked for. RIP chasing pheasants in heaven Denali girl.

Well I went lower in the walk in unit (kapowsin) yesturday and didn't see anything, so went back up to the top and nothing up there either. Got in really early cause it takes three hours to get to my high spot, many miles again today and nothing. No deer in 2 1/2 days, after 20+ miles on foot. I'm done till late muzzy(multi tag), the blacktail broke me down this rifle season. Congrats to all those succesful hunters, nice job guys.
twenty plus miles. My god. your either a marathon man or don't know how to judge distance.  Saw three shooters in there yesterday and didn't hardly get out of the blind.

20 miles in two and a half days id say is very doable. I know I do it on every single one of my back pack hunts with a 45 pound pack  :dunno:
