Girl Power

Had a short but awesome deer season this year. I didn't have much time but made the most of it. Two days travel and 3 days to hunt. My best friend and hunting partner came with and my sister, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and numerous friends of all. First day we woke around 4:15 hiking by 5:30, first up the hill gets the best spot! We split up at the top and I sat waiting for hunting hours to open. Saw a buck 5 minutes later and it took me 5 minutes to confirm the 3 points. I had to sacrifice the shoulder to drop him 3 feet from the down hill edge. It just makes it harder for a couple of women to get a deer down to the truck. Fastest hunt I've ever done, 10-15 minutes flat. We had to get him up hill for a few hundred yards then down to the truck.
I may have some of these mixed up! Lol
The next day back up the hill again but without my riffle, guiding today!! Had a few encounters early this morning but couldn't put 3 points on them but right where yesterday's buck came out here is another! He didn't want to stop with grunts but decided on his own to stop and my friend made a great shot. He went over the hill about 40 yds. so we had to sidehill him up first then straight up. Her first mule deer and first deer in 25 years. So excited!
Just for fun, entrance and exit holes.
We had a little help with this one.
After getting this one skinned and hung my niece asked us to guide her.....so up we go very early again the next morning. We saw two bucks at first sight but I just couldn't confirm them as shooters and couldn't ask her to shoot. We sat in the spot and watched the sun come up with beautiful foggy low clouds.
We had fog roll in and out and chose to wait it out with a little fun. Sad fog faces!
About a half hour the fog cleared and the sun came out. And wouldn't you know it a buck comes out in the same spot. My friend went up to check the other saddle while we set up for this guy. I told her he was definitely a shooter! I stopped him for her and she made a great shot and he faultered at the same spot yesterday's buck did but he slid a bit farther. 50 yrd plus haul up the hill!! This one was 250 lbs or more also. Thank goodness there were three of us. He ended up being a big 3 point with 16 inch back tines, her best buck yet. He stopped all ready for field dressing, lol.
A beautiful setting for a hero shot!
This one was all we could do to get him side hill up then over and down. We called in reinforcements for the last few hundred yards.
Had such a great time as a guide on this awesome buck!!
He was a little heavy!
Had to take a break!
All in all it was one of the best hunting experiences ever. Wine was in order after this day, it was pretty hot! My nephew gave me a root beer....not you Dad's root beer. They are so good!
The first day when we pulled into camp my other niece and her friend both brought deer in!
The little guy rode in his Dad's backpack for the hunt and didn't miss a thing!
Hope you enjoyed it!
