I only carry handgun in the woods when I'm not packing a rifle. Don't need the extra weight if I have rifle.

I used to never carry in woods while hunting.  Tell my buddy told me of a story that happened to him and his wife. After that I pack when wife and kids are with me or I’m out solo.  Mainly for the crazy a$$ two legged animals.

I carry a 44 when in the woods and not hunting and sometimes when I am.
I've needed one before and could again.  :dunno:
I'm not sure.

I carry when I mow the lawn... ;)

Anytime I leave the house, regardless of my destination is a no brainer.

As for the why, I don't trust humans.

Always carrying if I'm  in the woods or not. While hunting I have a holster for my .40 S&W with spare mag attached to my exo belt.

I do.  Mostly just because it's nearly a part of me after all these years.  I've popped of a round or two at grouse...

I carry. I never go into the woods without one, hunting or not.  I carried during archery(inside my waist pack) before it was "legal".  Two legged critters are my main concern - bear, cougar, and wolves are secondary.  Even if rifle hunting, I will have a semi auto on my side.  Glock 17L with two extra mags and Underwood Extreme Penetrator +P+
May that for which I prepare never come to pass.

I've always carried my XD .45 until halfway through this season. Too much added weight and bulk. I'm already armed with a bow and a knife. I might use my LC9 in the future. I'm more concerned about the two-legged predators than the 4-legged ones.

:yeah: Even when I was in heavy bear country back home in Alaska. I didn't see a point when my rifle has much more smack down power

Nope. No need.  Might feel differently in griz country. As for fellow humans, I've found nearly all of the ones I meet in the woods to be guys and gals I'd enjoy a cup of coffee with..
